This is a story of the Orthodox Church in China that started in the year 1685, when Chinese imperial troops captured Fort Albazin, a Russian Far East outpost on the Amur River. The story of the captured Russian warriors marks the beginning of the Orthodox Spiritual Mission in China and continues with a modern history of the Chinese Orthodox Church describing feats of faith made by the Chinese martyrs and the forefathers of modern believers.

One Last Thing, by Rebecca St. James, Nancy N. Rue

Review 'Richly developed characters and an engaging plot result in a compelling read that will stay with readers long after the book is finished. Recommended for fans of Francine Rivers and patrons seeking an inspirational story . . .' (Library Journal, STARRED Review)'. . . the timely topic of pornography and its effects on a relationship are meaningful. More than an 'issue' book, it also explores truth and lies – both those told to others and the ones people tell themselves.' (Romantic Times, 4 stars)

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. After an unnecessary argument over where the sofa should be placed in ... By Mark E. Barrineau St. James and Rue’s third novel together addresses an apparent non-issue in today’s society; a 60 billion dollar per year industry (12 to 14 billion in the United States) that is not considered a mental health diagnosis or disorder in the DSMV, and is barely recognized as an addiction by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. An issue implied in television advertising for auto insurance and auto buying services, an issue considered art on some college campuses and supported in film making programs, an issue that entices young women to demean themselves into believing they are “actresses”. An issue rarely addressed by the pulpit.Set in Savannah’s historic district three weeks prior to the “destined to be” fairy tale marriage of Tara Faulkner and Seth Grissom, childhood friends from well to do families, the story takes us through Tara’s startling discovery about Seth-a secret that could postpone or cancel the wedding. After an unnecessary argument over where the sofa should be placed in the couples soon-to be-townhome, Tara leaves Seth for a meeting with her bridesmaids. Afterwards, Tara decides to stop by the townhouse to surprise Seth, no easy task, and make up. Seth, son of the pastor of one of Savannahs largest congregations, and newly promoted CFO of Great Commission Ministries, is found at his computer viewing and participating in cyber porn. Tara is horrified and disintegrated at the discovery and runs from the house, her dreams shattered. What to do next begins Tara’s journey of self-discovery and re-found faith. The secret has been discovered, Seth lies about seeking help for his addiction, and the wedding is called off. Seth is “outed” by an unknown source, both families are shamed. Tara literally stumbles in front of a source of comfort (a recovering porn addict minister) and is aided by a group of older women collectively known as “The Watch” The rest is your discovery.I found the characters a bit unbelievable at first. Rich kids wanting for nothing. The authors were able to “bring them down” to the reader’s level smoothly. The descriptions of Savannah read like a travel guide and I feel like I could walk the streets and find the places Tara walked easily. This book is a powerful example of how pornography addiction affects relationships and society, and does exist in an unnoticing world. Reflection questions and resources are provided by the authorsMy biggest disappointment in this book was learning that the primary promotion of it is the responsibility of the authors, not the publishers.

The first novel I have read penned by these two ladies was Sarah's Choice, which I LOVED!This novel started a bit off track for me. It was slow going at first. I wasn't sure I even liked the characters. That's huge for me. If there isn't a connection I'm not going to be overjoyed to pick it up and read late into the night. But after a few chapters the reader gets to know the characters a bit more and the story begins to open up.These characters live charmed lives. Everything they want is at their fingertips. This could be a reason why I had a difficult time relating at first, but then the characters are stripped of this life of perceived perfection. Not sure if they truly love one another or they are just in love with the idea of being in love. This makes for a great discussion opener. But the writers do a great job of allowing the reader to journey with these characters as they grow and figure out that before they love another they first must love themselves. My favorite chapters were the last few. In those last few I really felt like I could relate to the characters and my heart went out to them. I LOVED the ending. I feel the writers did an outstanding job at how they brought the ending of this novel to a close. This novel brings the subject of pornography to light. The writers do a tremendous job of combining friendship, forgiveness, love, and faith together. We see that sometimes fairy-tales aren't what they seem. We all have secrets. The thing is, do we love one another enough to share or do we feel that they are better kept in the closet with our other skeletons? This is a questions these characters have to face and it brings them to really take a look at their relationship. We see that with every trial we carry there is a past that has brought it to life. Uncovering our sins isn't easy, but surrounding ourselves with people who love and accept us, gives us more room to really be true to who we are.I enjoyed this novel. As I said, the more I read the more I grasped the heart of the characters. This would make for a great pick for younger readers in the late teens and early twenty-somethings.This novel was a gift from Thomas Nelson for sharing my review with you.

Friedel I recently read the book One Last Thing by Rebecca St. James and Nancy Rue. It takes the issue of pornography head on and I am so thankful they are brave enough to tackle this topic. Pornography is a growing problem in our country and it seems that no one is addressing it, including the church. One Last Thing begins with a "perfect couple," Seth and Tara, in the midst of planning a wedding. Suddenly, Tara's world comes crashing down as she discovers Seth's pornography addiction with only 21 days until the wedding. The authors do an excellent job of taking fiction and making you completely buy into the character's and the struggles they are facing. I literally woke up one morning thinking about Tara, wondering if there was anything I could do for her. That's the mark of a real writer!I highly recommend this book for ages 16 and up. I think that it actually should be required reading for anyone thinking about getting engaged. I've had a few friends in this exact situation and if they knew what questions to ask or what things to look for prior to the wedding, I know they definitely would have saved themselves a lifetime of heartache. For more information on this topic, please check out this post called "7 Porn Problem Do's and Don't Every Bride Needs to Know Before Saying I Do," written by Michael Leahy. His ministry, Bravehearts, has been mentoring men with pornography addictions for over 4 years now with a 90% success rate. If you know someone with a porn addiction, please send him to this site. It will change their lives!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers, as part of their Book Review Blogger Program. Oops is an understatement... Chase Banter thought her life couldn't get any weirder. Her mother has taken up private investigating, her writer's group's helpful suggestions have led to severe writer's block, and her girlfriend's family is nuts. Growing up isn't high on her list of priorities. What grip Chase has on her life is severely challenged when her girlfriend tells her about the little oops at the gynocologist. Seems the doctor mixed up the rooms and now Gitana is pregnant. The reality of Gitana's radiant glow—and growing waistline—finally convinces Chase to accept that she's about to become a parent. There's only one thing to do: Chase embarks on a nine-month plan to grow up, once and for all. Goldie Award Winner, Book 1 of the Chase Banter trilogy!

By Cyclonus I'm not very good at writing individual reviews because I tend to accidentally give away spoilers and plot points so Ifigured I would write out a generic review instead and save myself the time and trouble. If I am putting this review on abook it means that I found it to be truly exceptional and I enjoyed the journey very much, so thank you to the Author forputting a great story down on the pages.

OK that is basically all I had to say but my review has to be a minimum of 20 words & I only had 9 prior to this sentence. I have read MANY of the lesbian novels on Kindle Unlimited and I have never been moved to write a review until now. Trust me, you will enjoy every word.

I'm into more "normal" salads I guess. The jars do keep the salads fresh for about a week which is really cool. I make the salads up ahead of time and I'm ready for the week.

Lacey Bryant is the ever-hopeful waitress at Gerald's Truckstop Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a spot that is clear across the country from her home and family in North Carolina. It has been eleven years since Lacey ran away from her angry father. Now, a single mother struggling to raise her own children, her heart yearns to go home for Christmas. She longs for her father's forgiveness, her mother's sweet embrace, and to share with her aging parents the grandchildren they have never seen. Cooper is every inch a Scrooge whose hard knocks in life took away any belief in the glory of Christmas. He definitely wants no part of traveling across country with two children. But he has promised to help out a friend, and he can’t manage to tell Lacey no. So he loads the woman and her brood into his eighteen-wheeler and carries them along with him on his trip down Interstate 40. As the miles roll under the big truck's wheels, it turns out to be Lacey and her children who are bringing Cooper along with them, on a journey that takes them all home to the heart. In this expanded edition of a Curtiss Ann Matlock classic contemporary romance, readers are treated once again to a cast of quirky and lovable characters in a story of affectionate wit and romance, and the unexpected turns life can take when yearning hearts open to the magic that is Christmastime. "Matlock has a gift for telling what she calls, 'the secret lives of ordinary people,' " ~ Detroit Free Press

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Short and sweet By Gemma From the back cover:To reconcile with her folks back East, and give her kids grandparents for Christams, truck stop waitress Lacey Bryant arranged transportation with her steadiest customer. Little did she know she'd hitched a ride with Scrooge! Eighteen hundred miles confined with scowling Barry Cooper would feel endless...unless Lacey miraculously changed his "Bah Humbug" to "Barry Christmas!"And my review:This story is a reprint. It originally appeared in one of Silhouette's Christmas stories collections (not sure which one).I never know what to expect from Curtiss Ann Matlock. Some of her stories have bored me to tears. But not this one. It was short (less than 100 pages) but sweet. While the theme of a bright, sunny woman melting the heart of a Scrooge is an old one, this story doesn't feel old or stale. I loved that even when Cooper was a Scrooge, you could still see that there was a nice person underneath all that bluster. I also loved watching Lacey and the kids peel away that gruff exterior to reveal the loving man underneath. The kids were so cute, and felt like more than just plot devices. Lacey was such a sweetheart, yet still a strong woman. No weeping weakness from her. I was impressed that the author could manage so much character development in so little space. The author also touched on the themes of family and forgiveness, and did them quite well. Plus there's the requisite appearance of Santa to keep the holiday spirit alive. This was a character-driven story. It didn't have any life-or-death moments, and it didn't need them. Good writing can be entertaining just by showing characters growing and changing, and that's what happened here. I also liked that I felt the characters really fell in love with each other as people, not just because they lusted after each other. In fact, the sensuality was at a PG level. Enough to show that they were physically attracted to one another, but not overblown into a lust-fest. Being physically attracted was an added bonus to falling in love. That's just how I like it. If you get disappointed when there's no sex in a novel, then you might be a little let down, because the relationship's consummation is never shown. Of course, for some readers, that's a selling point. It all depends on your taste. For a sweet short story to put you in a holiday mood, this will do the trick. Not a story that's going to be hard to put down, but it is an enjoyable way to pass an hour, and recommended by this reader.

8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. fabulous early Christmas romance By A Customer Eleven years pregnant unwed teen Lacey Bryant fled the wrath of her rigid father to make a life for herself and her unborn. Eventually she took a waitressing job at Gerald's Truckstop while raising her two children alone. Now she wants to come home to Pine Grove, North Carolina to introduce her kids to their grandparents, hoping for a Christmas miracle in which her dad forgives her because she needs her mom's hug. However, long haul driver fiftyish widower Pate Andrews, who was taking the three Bryants across the country along with his load, broke his leg. His friend Cooper reluctantly agrees to take care of the shipment including the Bryants. On the trek east along Interstate 40, his three passengers slowly convert Cooper from Scrooge to Santa as he falls in love with them; they reciprocate, but the adults have so much baggage that it will take a miracle for either to admit their feelings.MIRACLE ON I-40 is a fabulous early Christmas romance starring two likable adults who bag humbug love when they first start, but change their minds on the long drive east. The story line is character driven as the audience wonders whether Lacey and Cooper can make it as she fears bringing a man with her while trying for a reconciliation and wonders how her parents will react to her and their grandchildren though she is confident her mother will warmly greet them with love . A revised version of an early 1990s tale, contemporary romance readers will believe in the MIRACLE ON I-40.Harriet Klausner

We were able to select places to visit based on the wines we like and went to tasting rooms near Los Olivos and in the Paso Robles area. The author descriptions were spot on. All wineries visited were excellent. Great maps. This region is awesome. So glad I bought this book before our trip.

Little disappointed in the scope of the wineries in the book By Florence Looked forward to receiving this book to have on hand for my guests for wine tours. Little disappointed in the scope of the wineries in the book. I am thinking after receiving it, wineries probably paid to be in book. Some of the very best and most successful in my area were not in the book. Thus not a very useful book to provide to guests for wine tours.

Useful book for planning our Central Coast wine tour By SKYE S JENKINS Very good layout with amazing full-page photos of wineries in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Well written. Has just the right amount of detail but not overly technical. Winery descriptions were all accurate with excellent maps. We carried the book with us on our trip. Got several winemaker autographs and tasted fantastic wines. Very happy we purchased this book.
