About the Author Katiera grew up in a family of ten where creative juices were always flowing. She graduated from Grace College and God soon grew in her a passion for helping middle grade students to draw close to Him and His Word. She wants to write stories that present a picture of middle schoolers who are seeking after Jesus in imperfect but sincere ways. She hopes her readers will grow toward Jesus with their hearts and minds as they read her stories. She often learns through failure and is so thankful for God’s tremendous mercy. Katiera lives in Ohio with her husband, three kids and pet lizard. They love hiking, learning, making creative messes and seeking to follow Jesus together day by day.

By beautifulwords I really enjoyed this sweet faith based mystery written in the first person from the perspective of the main character, Maggie. This is a wonderful clean read for ages 9-12 that kept me wondering, "I can't wait to see what happens next."Without giving away more than the title indicates, Maggie uncovers some secrets in her new hometown while also dealing with struggles and issues kids her age face - 6th and early 7th grade.The secrets and issues continually point her to her need for God and His help, guidance, intervention, and learning to place one's life into His capable hands.The story gently, and non-overpreachingly (to make up a word) weaves scripture and faith throughout. The author also cleverly weaves the perfect amount of real life history into the story and makes it work wonderfully with the plot and characters.I recommend this read and have done so already. I look forward to future books by this author.

Most compelling cook book By Ion Kellog This is a great cook book where everything is so well explained, the whole process, starting from preparation, cooking and serving.The most appealing part are the tables of value/calories for each product, so you can use this also for weight lost. Since this is a low carb cook book, it is also recommendable for the diabetic.

Tasty and inventive By Jessie McIntyre I’m always on the lookout for tasty low carb recipes, because although I love starches, I know they’re not kind to my waistline. I found some good ones here. The beef fried “rice” is actually grated cauliflower and quite yummy. Tuna muffins sound weird but are pretty good, ditto for the black bean brownies. Several of the recipes included here are also gluten-free, and nutritional information is listed for each one.

By klc59 I am always following the latest food/clean eating trends and recently became quite a big fan of the mediterranean diet, which involves a lot of fish - the only thing is, I am not the biggest fan of fish, so I have been searching for different cookbooks to help me with new fish "ideas," - this cookbook has helped me a lot!As someone who doesn't have too much experience with fish, I enjoyed the author's background tips and information on fish - cleaning the fish, prepping it, etc. I do wish the author had included a few more "healthy" recipes or replacement options for some of the dishes - for example, I would love to know what alternate types of cheese work in the Cheesy Tuna -Cauli Cakes.This book is a solid introduction to fish and I am looking forward to trying out some of the recipes - particularly the Baja Fish Tacos!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fish Without a Doubt By Jessica Juhl Wonderful cookbook! I had a challenge with one of the recipes where the taste just wasn't right. It was my first time trying it out so I tweaked it according to my culinary experience (added some rosemary, garlic, and a touch of extra virgin olive oil) and this is now one of my top 5 meals I prepare when we guests in our home. Somehow Gordon had taken the mystery out of cooking fish, and the results of his recipes are very good. I've owned hundreds of cookbooks, many of which are no longer on my shelves. This one is a keeper.

Masterfully Written Characters, a Beautiful Love Story By Monica Mynk Victoria Bylin’s Together With You is a charming story about ophthalmologist Ryan Tremaine, who is in over his head raising his three children by himself while his ex-wife is traveling. Penny, an unplanned product of an affair, was born with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), and runs away at every opportunity in search of her recently-deceased mother. Kyle and Eric are distant, and in spite of his best effort, Ryan cannot find the cohesiveness he desires for his family.Enter Carly Mason, preacher’s daughter and assistant toy store manager, who has expertise with FASD through her volunteer work back home in Kentucky. She’s finishing up her college degree and trying to forget a bad experience she had with a FAS teenager that left her feeling like a failure.When Penny goes missing at the mall and wanders into her store, Carly can’t help but notice the symptoms. She’s able to reach Penny by talking through stuffed animals, and helps her get back to her dad. Ryan, impressed by how Carly handled the situation, offers her a job as Penny’s nanny.Though reluctant at first, Carly agrees to take the job, and here we experience Bylin’s mastery of character. Learn more about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome By Kelly B. have never read anything by Victoria Bylin, but her latest book, Together with You, wove a story with a missing child, which struck a cord with me as the mother of three young boys. Plus the cover drew me in: the image of a guy and girl in a tight embrace with the clouds hanging around in the background is simple yet effective. And overall, Together with You met all my expectations for a contemporary romance.Ryan and Carly are flawed characters with a lot of baggage, and I especially couldn’t help but fall in love with Ryan as he is determined to be a better father. As is typical for this genre, Carly is a caring, compassionate, and patient woman who never falters from her faith while being haunted by an error darkening her every move. One of my favorite aspects of the novel was watching Carly keep her strong faith even through her struggles.Most of the tension revolved around Penny, who was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD), which limits her ability to be around a lot of commotion and noise. While Ryan, Carly, Kyle, and Eric try to deal with Penny, Penny struggles with the recent loss of her mother. As for the romantic tension, Bylin places God as that roadblock to keep Ryan and Carly from pursuing a deeper relationship. While it took a while for the characters to fully seek redemption for their pasts, Ryan’s conversation scene seemed a little too rushed for my taste.The story started off with a gut-wrenching incident that definitely made my imagination run wild, but after that the pace felt uneven, super quick at times but dragging in other spots. And the premise was a little implausible for me, too—I could not imagine asking someone I didn’t know to work in my home after just one meeting! But the overall writing was technically sound, and flowed from scene to scene as the story and characters developed. The characters’ dialogue really brought them to life, inviting me into their lives to sit in their kitchens and eavesdrop on their struggles. While Penny as a character struggles to communicate, the times when she did speak, she didn’t come across as having her own distinct voice, which I would’ve expected as she is a child and the others are adults.FASD is an important issue plaguing a number of babies today, and Bylin did a great job weaving this delicate subject into her story to show first-hand how FASD affects families. This would be an excellent book for parents and their teenage children to read together and broach the topic of how decisions made in a moment of passion can affect your entire life. There is mention of drinking alcohol while pregnant, cigarettes, and an affair, but it is all handled well and is essential to the story, and not just thrown in gratuitously.Bylin’s research into the world of FASD is evident and made Penny a very memorable characters, but while this angle was unique, the romance was predictable and typical for the genre. This wasn’t an edge-of-my-seat, can’t-put-it-down book for me, but fans of contemporary romance will no doubt find a lot to love in this story, as Bylin’s flawed characters must cope with the effects of FASD and move past the baggage of their pasts in order to embrace an unexpected chance at love.

Wonderful Read By katrina Epperson Wow, what a great book!!This is a story about bad decisions, forgiveness, trust and faith.As humans we are not perfect and make many mistakes, but we have to remember no sin is too big to be forgiven.The author brings us a wonderful, contemporary romance about learning to live with the choices we make. We are introduced to two incredible characters that are easy to love. Ryan and Carly are both good, strong people, but they have their flaws which makes them more real. Carly is a very strong woman who is tethered to the past, but she is trying to learn from it instead of letting it define her as a person. There are times when she could give up or give in, but she turns to the Lord for direction. Ryan, on the other hand, is the father of 3 and has a past mistake which he lets define him as a person. Ryan does not believe in God and thinks religion is cult. The story also addresses the issue of fetal alcohol disorders in great detail. The author eloquently points out that education is the key to preventing it. I love that this issue is addressed. Not many people are familiar with it or realize how prevalent it is. This is a beautiful story about a family in crisis that must deal with trust, forgiveness, and humor. I would recommend this book to anyone.I received this from Netgalley for a honest opinion without bias as stated above

21 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Very interesting case By kevnm This is a pretty good true crime book, a thorough account of a fascinating, and tragic, killing in San Francisco. As these books usually do, this one walks the reader through the crime, the personalities involved, and the trial and sentencing. As the book progresses, the reader sees a wierder and more detailed portrait of the misfit lawyers and the violent convict at the heart of this case, and learns a bit about the breeding of vicious dogs.Some of the morally indignant reviews below note that the book does not focus primarily on the innocent victim of this awful dog mauling, and they're right. It does not. For better or for worse, true crime books are primarily about crime and criminals.As these things go, this book is interesting and informative, and will satisfy true crime buffs and those interested in this notorious case

Gripping and Disturbing--As It Should Be By A Customer In one sense, Red Zone is not an easy book to read: it is, as it ought to be, a gripping but profoundly disturbing story of frightening people engaging in shocking activities. The horrible attack by dogs trained to kill, the attack that caused the death of Diane Whipple, is terrible in its own right, and the reader cannot help but feel compassion for the innocent victim. But as Aphrodite Jones reveals in her book, there many more layers to the story than there seem at first to be.As she examines the case, Jones quickly takes one into a world that, one suspects, most readers have never imagined and could never imagine: a world in which lawyers seem to lose their bearings and come under the influence of an apparently charismatic convict already in prison yet still engaging in criminal activities. That the criminal activities engaged in by Aryan Brotherhood member Paul Schneider and lawyers Marjorie Knoller and Robert Noel are by now fairly well known is due in no small part to Ms. Jones� book.The story is presented in a clear and unaffected style that draws attention to the contents rather than to the writer. A tale of unfolding and deepening levels of horror, the book is also a readable and well-researched example of what good investigative reporting can uncover and deliver. I recommend this book. I have, in fact, recommended Red Zone in my college-level essay writing classes to students who are interested in researching current/recent events, as I have also recommended Ms. Jones� earlier book, All S/he Wanted.

Only if you are desperate By Carla Baku I give the book two stars only because it gave me just barely more insight than media provided over the course of the trial.The most burning question I am left with is this: where was Ms. Jones' editor? In places the narrative reads like a high school essay, very self-conscious. Aphrodite considers herself a journalist, but she smears her personal bias all over the page. Another question: what, precisely, is the purpose of italicizing every single point she tries to make? Dumping research directly onto the page is also a lazy approach to reporting, something she reverts to several times.The book really begins to unravel at the end, rambling from Knoller's testimony, to catty remarks about ADA Kimberly Guilfoyle-Newsom's wedding,and so forth. She throws in some PC fawning, at one point describing Sharon Smith as standing with her "beautiful lesbian friends." However, she shows her true colors when she suddenly attacks Smith by insinuation on page 292: "But authorities were well aware that Sharon Smith, for all her tears and courtroom drama, had long before moved on with her life...." and "No one who visited the Tiburon home ever bothered to notice whether Diane Alexis Whipple's green marble urn [these words were, of course, italicized] was present...." And the author wonders why neither Smith nor any of Whipple's friends or family spoke to her about Dianne?I would have enjoyed seeing this story done by a true journalist, someone in the vein of Joe McGinnis or Jon Krakauer. One good thing I came away with: I now know I needn't waste my precious reading time with the likes of Aphrodite Jones.

Dalton and Autumn are preparing for their wedding and welcoming new members. These members are having a few growing pains as they continue to meld into one pack. Little do they realize, Daniel is searching for Autumn and will stop at nothing to find and claim her.The story was a quick read and well paced. The ending is a cliffhanger to be finished in the final book.

Glad I chose this series. They are all great but this one is the best yet, but leaves you hanging which is why I can't wait till the next book comes out! I appreciate the genuine and interesting story the most of course, but I am also very grateful to find an author who gives each character their own identity.

Great Read By mamajen84 I received this book free for an honest review and I was lost because I hadn't read the first two in the series but with that aside it was well written and I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read compared to my usual books I find myself reading which was also a plus seeing as I have been really busy lately. I would suggest this to anyone but before reading this one I'd say read Books one and two first haha I have actually bought them and plan on reading them now hoping it will help make better sense of some things for me.

Crispin is in the midst of helping a young child of the female persuasion who's fallen out of a tree whilst cutting down Christmas decorations, when he's battered over the head with a basket of mistletoe by her sister thinking the worst!Miss Gwen Prim is unaware that it's a Duke she's raging against--not only that, one well known to her brother-in-law Bray.Crispin is quite an interesting character who displays just the right amount of acceptance of children and their ways and a wry sense of the absurd.Gwen is a mixture of innocence and determination that does step beyond what's appropriate for her own reasons.Between the two of them the sparks fly and Crispin finds his contemplations take a whole new direction.An enjoyable Seasonal novella.

I love Christmas! I love novels about Christmas! I love historical novels about Christmas! I especially love historicaql Regency Romance novels about Christmas!Author Amelia Grey has written a short (too short..lol) but joyous new addition to her series The Heir's club" that will start your Holiday jingles jingling and bells a ringing just right. When Crispin, The 7th Duke of Hurst and Miss Gwen Prim' meet it is a misunderstanding that leads to a passion neither expected. I wont give too much info as there are enough reviews above that do but just know there are characters we have met before and it was refreshing to see them again and wont be disappointed in the antics that go on.I truly enjoy the scene descriptions and witty dialogue the author always provides us with in all her works. I can always 'see' exactly where the characters are be it on a country country lane on a crisp December morning or in an invalid's bedroom with one propped up among a pile of fluffy pillows. I can 'hear' the cheeky second youngest Prim sister Sybil squabbling with the youngest Bonnie that because it isn't 'family night' that they don't dine with guests expected for dinner and then Bonnie sticking her tongue out in retort. I can hear Bonnie counting out the flowers Crispin has brought over to brighten up Sybil's day, to make sure she and middle Miss Prim Lillian had the exact amount to carry up to her.I recommend this story to everyone who wants to start their holiday reading early. I love all the reviews that came before mine (and will those after). I just wanted to give a little enticement as I know you won't want to put this book down once you start as I did. So snuggle down with a nice large mug of cocoa and your comfy quilt. You want to find out why a Duke insists on calling Gwen 'Miss Christmas' and she dubs him 'Sir Ogre'.This short story was a delight to read and I thank Miss Grey for the free ARC that in no way influenced my POV.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. You'll definitely want to give this one a read. By The Color Of Ink What a sweet holiday addition to The Heirs’ Club of Scoundrels. It was the perfect length to sweep across the pages before bed. This enjoyable novella captured my attention from start to finish, and left me with me a smile.One of my favorite things is how the whole family is incorporated throughout, but never takes from the main character’s story. Crispin and Gwen’s blooming relationship isn’t heavy with drama, which makes for a crisp refreshing read. The connection and spark between the two will have you swooning throughout the story. You’ll definitely want to give this one a read.I have been lucky enough to have been gifted copies in exchange for an honest review from the author. I whole-heartedly enjoy this series and I can’t wait for the next release.
