Connell This book is a delight!There is not one recipe that doesn't sound fresh, simple and delicious.I must confess to not having tried cooking Vietnamese Vegetarian food but this has now changed.The spicy Cabbage Salad is to die for as are the Tofu Lettuce Cups and I can't wait to try more. The Lemongrass Lemonade is the next thing I'm going to make - sounds really refreshing.This book is a must for anyone wanting to vary their vegetarian diet but even if you are a meat eater, you will still enjoy the fabulous recipes.Recommended!

Highly recommended By Mike Billington During my second tour in Vietnam I was an advisor to an ARVN infantry regiment in the Mekong Delta and absolutely fell in love with Vietnamese food.Sadly, although I've lived in many places both in the United States and abroad over the years, I've seldom been able to find any Vietnamese restaurants to satisfy my desire for more of it. That being said, I was thrilled to find Michele Tran's 'Vegetarian Vietnamese' cookbook and, while I do enjoy meat and fish, I've found these recipes to be very satisfying.Even better, they are easy to prepare although I do occasionally have to substitute the odd ingredient owing to my inability to find what I need in shops here in Spain.If you like Vietnamese food or if you are a vegetarian looking to diversify your recipe file, I'd highly recommend this book.

San Jose Ca is the perfect place to find all of the ingredients I need. We have a bright productive Vietnamese community. About the Author

CHEF SAL SCOGNAMILLO grew up in Patsy's Italian Restaurant, where he learned every aspect of the business's operation from his father (Joe) and grandfather (Patsy). Of course, a “must” for the recipes. But also a “must” for anyone who wants to understand Italian culture. Don’t buy it just for the recipes. Buy it to be taken back to a time when several generations of family would sit at a long, crowded makeshift table, usually in the basement, usually for hours, on a Sunday or holiday afternoon and enjoy the beautiful symbiosis of food and family. Voices were always elevated and smiles and laughs permeated the air.Every chapter contains celebrity photos and testimonials, restaurant-related anecdotes, family photos and yes, there are stories about Frank Sinatra, who once proclaimed Patsy’s restaurant one of his all-time favorites. More importantly, there is a common thread woven throughout the chapters that shows how family and friends create tradition by coming together and combining simple, fresh natural ingredients to create recipes that last for generations.My favorite chapter is “ Holiday Dishes” because it is so steeped in Italian tradition. This collection of recipes includes St. Joseph’s Day Bread, Pastiera, a wheat-based cheesecake served on Easter Sunday, Bacala Salad, a starter for the Feast of Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, Neapolitan Meatball and Rice Pie, a Christmas Day appetizer and Struffoli, little balls of fried dough with a honey glaze, a classic holiday dessert.Every recipe starts with a narrative from Chef Sal—either a description of the recipe or a family story that relates to the recipe . He includes basics like seasoned bread crumbs, tomato sauce, and brown sauce from which you can build a Steak Oreganata, Chicken Cacciatore, or a Roasted Chicken with Rosemary-Garlic Sauce. Not only because of the recipes that are delicious but because of the history it represents. My late husband, the dancer, director choreographer Gene Kelly, loved Patsy's. He made a point of going there whenever he was in New York. Like his good friend Frank Sinatra, Gene found the atmosphere in the restaurant warm and inviting. He felt at home with Joe Scognamillo and his family. He spoke Italian with the waiter Vinnie and dined on a special linguini with garlic and clams. I now visit Patsy's each time I am in New York and the tradition continues with Sal and his sons. I am slowly working my way through this delightful book, savoring the recipes and the memories. Treat yourself. Buy the book and then put Patsy's on your "to do" list when you next visit New York. And be sure to check out the photo of a very talented and handsome man that hangs on the wall next to the bar.

By Noelle E Ifshin I got my signed hardcopy of the book at the restaurant, but had to write a review! This is more than a cookbook, it is Chef Sal inviting you into his family and the world of Patsy's. The stories and quotes make the book so much fun to read and not just cook with!Who knew the baked clams were so easy to make? Made the pork rollatini and roasted portobello mushrooms with caramelized fennel and got raves from my guests. Cannot wait to cook more of Sal's recipes!If you have not been to the NYC restaurant, you must plan to go. Bring your book for Sal to sign!

The honest and openess that was expressed by the author when talking about her struggles and going throught the storms in her life were refreshing. Jan humbly guides you through her personal process of healing. Jan reminds us that God walks before us in every storm and He has prepared a way for us to not only survive, but to use our own tragedy to reflect God's love and promises to those around us. Jan keeps the focus on our Heavenly Father, when many people who are going through a tragedy tend to focus only on their pain and suffering. She takes a back seat and let's Him speak for Himself the words we all need to hear.

By Patricia Mikita You can always trust Katie Wyatt to tell a good story and that it will not be filled with sex, violence or bad language. The story of Tempest, who leaves Cincinnati, in part because she needs the money to care for her mother and in part because her outspokenness had gotten her in trouble with the locals. At first, her doctor husband doesn't seem to need her help, but that soon changes. Tempest is a great character, taking on Apaches and her own husband's reluctance to let her help. Katie Wyatt is a good choice when you want a fun Christian read.

Dr. Adam Evans is Thirty five compared to her twenty years of age. Her mother is senile according to their doctor and is going to live in Wisconsin with her sister. Her aunt is going to take care of her so she does not have to live alone or be hospitalised. Her aunt tells her do not worry about the age difference for he sounds like a good man and is even going to help pay for her mother's care. This story is very good with some really funny parts.

It would have stifled her and eventually they both would have been miserable.Good thing the Indians were satisfied with just her hair.Sweet story.

By JS-P Blessings for my Grandchild is a beautiful and thoughtful book intended to be given by a grandparent to his/her grandchild and personalized, not only by writing the child’s name into prayers or by signing it as a gift, but there is also room to add a personal, spiritual family history, and to tell the story of how they kept their faith and how God answered their prayers. This book is written from the heart. It is Trinitarian in the sense that marriage is Trinitarian as it explores the relation of the grandparent with God, the grandchild with God and the grandchild with grandparent so that each relationship can merge into one deep Love. It opens with the wisdom of a grandparent looking upon the principals by which one should live, the personal imperfections and repentances that mark life and God’s great mercy. This is followed by a prayer for the grandchild. After this, the grandparent explains our faith in very simple and straightforward terms, laying the foundation for a child’s growth over time. Each page or set of facing pages is a “chapter” often with a biblical quote or citation. Each chapter sets the stage for the grandparent/reader to share and elaborate with a child, such as “How to Listen to God’s Word” or “Be a Doer.” And, as every teacher knows, one comes to know one’s own faith better by explaining it. Last, as the back cover explains, this book is “a quest to leave a tangible affirmation to my grandchildren…of the depth of our family’s faith and trust in Jesus Christ, so that the truth of the Eastern Orthodox faith is preserved in their lives. It is intended to create a connection, “a remembrance of our love and Christ’s love for them, especially when we are part of the Church Triumphant.”

I made the muffins you see on the cover,as part of Easter brunch---there were none left and that should tell you how good they were. I paired them with an omelet from THE EGG AND I, which you can find on AMAZON, and then I added some fruit snacks from Hannie P. Scott's book about Fruit Snacks , also found on AMAZON. Needless to say, there were NO leftovers, and THAT should tell you something too!!!

She’s mystified that the church members don’t seem to desire spreading the good news of Jesus. But as things become clear, Carolyn realizes that their resistance to winning sin-sick souls stems from those souls being mirror images of their own lives. Pastor Lane sees that healing and conversion need to begin in the sanctuary before souls in the street can be won to salvation. As if her job isn’t hard enough, an inconvenient attraction stirs between her and Ash. She struggles to fight it and constantly reminds herself that this delicious handiwork of the Creator is a soul for Jesus and not for her. Now Pastor Lane must be careful that her witnessing act, which only appears evil, doesn’t really become evil.

I was afraid it would be too sensual in details with the characters' lifestyles, but it wasn't offensive--it made get the characters more believable and the story more powerful. Not everyone can do Brigette Manie has done here.You'll never forget the characters and their stories. You definitely will feel the romance.I've read books by this author, but this, I think, is one of the best.

I've gotten to the point where I just purchase whatever is a new release. She is that good. This story shows you every saint had a past and ever sinner has a future. One should never decide who is worthy of salvation. Christ died for all and the job of a christian is but to uplift Christ and the Holy Spirit will woo the heart. This story was amazing. Carolyn went into a strip club unknowingly and was goaded by the owner and showed him what she was made of. This is the start of there friendship and due to Ash, the owner's, stubbornness he agrees to have bible studies. Like the saying goes what's done in the dark will come to light. But remember all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord. Check out this book, you will not be disappointed, but richly blessed. Thank you Sis. Maine for spreading the gospel in an open arena. You will have stars in your crown.

God Is Good By Tyler I came to god when I was 22 after overdosing on herion and nearly died.Since I've came to the lord I've Immersed myself in him and started reading not just the Bible but anything that'll praise his love a glory.This book is truly a powerful reminder of how awesome the lord is.He died for our sins.I highly recommend this book.
