About the Author For over twenty five years, K. Douglas Brown has served youth and their families. Currently Pastor of Family Ministries at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Doug is passionate about his work with families. He also dedicates time each year to train church leaders abroad. A lover of the outdoors, he has hiked portions of both the Continental Divide and Appalachian Trails. Together Doug and his wife, Juli, make their home in suburban Edmond, Oklahoma, in the heart of tornado alley. They have four children, including a recently adopted daughter.

Bengtson Doug Brown targets his book 'Shotgun Rider' at those in ministry, but it's treatise on leading others in grace and love. At one point he states, "What I'm talking about is standing in the gap where you're needed and honoring God by providing godly leadership without expectation." He shows us the principles this is founded on, and lifts the hood on HOW to do this with hard won practical advice and liberally sprinkled anecdotes from his own time in ministry. A pithy volume that will be instantly useful to any leader.

" I found it as much about good leadership as ministry By Loren Reno The subtitle of this very enjoyable read is "Restoring your passion for the ministry Trail." I found it as much about good leadership as ministry, but they are so similar. Doug writes, "If there is one thing that people want, it's to be led." This is true of servants and leaders alike. Again, he writes, "Lead your leaders, and those you are serving, by loving them." Not many think about leading up the chain. Then, "Lead others by building into them." This is so practical and helpful...and written with experience and humility. Doug writes about loving God and others way before loving self. His style of leadership in a different ministry than where the Lord has called me is inspiring and so applicable. If "read to lead" hearkens to you, you'll want to get a copy of this. Expect to come back for more for gifts. 5-stars!

By Amazon Customer I am a great lover of Mexican food the spicy Mexican torte is delicious as is the Mexican chicken 2. Now as for the Mexican lasagna 1 it is out of this world with flavor. The ground beef Mexican style is also super. But with over a hundred and fifty recipes you need to try them for yourself and see just which ones you enjoy best. Thank you and enjoy your meal and enjoy your day.

The word secret in the title led me to believe that there might be authentic Mexican recipes inside. Definitely not the case as a browse through the recipes in the book will reveal. The "secret" recipes are loaded with meat, canned food and other ingredients not used in good Mexican cooking. I didn't see any authentic Mexican spices used either. The use of the word "secret" is just another marketing rip-off for the unwary. If you want real Mexican, get a real Mexican cook book. This book contains low quality Mexican-American junk food recipes best left a secret.

Sweet and Sincere By Lyn Perry Sweet and sincere character driven Christian romance with just the right amount of comedy of errors and requisite tension to keep the pages turning until we ultimately reach the anticipated reunion between the main characters, Paige and Jackson. Nicely paced and plotted. Maddrey has found a formula that works - without being formulaic in her story-telling. (And formula isn't a bad word - we expect a romance to turn out a certain way, don't we? It's the fresh characters, interactions, and unique journeys that make a story interesting and compelling, which is what the author has provided in this novel.)Written in alternating POV/chapters, we get to know Paige and Jackson (and their friends) as they navigate the choppy waters of life, romance, and Christian decision making. Set in the same world as her other novels, this first book in a new trilogy also touches on modern day topics such as the Christian's role in politics and our response to environmental issues. Never heavy-handed, Maddrey simply weaves important themes into her stories and leaves it up to the reader to come to their own conclusions and convictions about them. In other words, the author is not a "teachy" writer, but simply creates a setting and introduces a cast of characters that you want to sit down with and naturally talk to about life. Though I received this ebook for free, I look forward to buying Book 2, "A Pinch of Promise."

I loved reading about sustainability and people having small gardens in suburban areas. We are getting ready to move near Alexandria this weekend from country living. Paige's father wants her to take over his restaurant after going to Culinary school, but she starts a catering business with local and organically grown food. Even the milk is from cows that aren't given hormones to produce. She has no interest in politics, but she wins the bid for a Senators fundraiser. That's how she meets, the senators aide, Mr. Jackson who thinks a good meal is fast food. Sparks fly between them from the beginning. This meal, for the Senator, could jumpstart her business, until the Senator comes under fire for misappropriation of funds. Will two people, with so many differences, be able to have a Godly relationship amidst the problems that arise??

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Same Story Line By My Opinion The writing style is good, don't get me wrong, BUT it's the same as this author other books. All the books I've read by this author, all main male characters...husband or boyfriend are cheaters. But will use that same line, but I love my wife or girlfriend. Thus far this book reminds me of the naughty series. Spolier: This is what I don't get...the female sleeping with the main male character is upset because her husband is cheating on her, so now she's sleeping with a married man, (no matter who he is, he's still married), but get this, the husband she's sleeping with is concerned about her because of what her husband is to her, but he's doing the same thing to his wife. Really!!!! Most of her characters are "college educated" but they all think the same when it comes to "good sex". Really!!! There are so many other issues in a marriage that's not always about cheating, or cheating doesn't have to always be the end result. The husband could have just left his wife, for the so called reason he's cheating. Then on top of that, the wife or girlfriend knows their mate is being unfaithful. Same store Line.

Black President 2 By Barbara Morgan Black President by Brenda Hampton is becoming one of my favorite series.This book reads like a mini TV series.As the president is busy trying to get congress in line to create gun control laws, along with a number of enemies who don’t want him in the white house or to succeed. His wife Raynetta is standing by his side and is trying hard to keep her life secrets.The presidents’ mother is also back along with a heavy drinking problem.I love the book covers to this series. I think the book covers is a perfect fit to the title.The characters you can picture while reading the story. Each character has a great part and drama following them.The story line is great. With chaos in the world and killing world wide the president has so much on his plate. The president doesn’t really know who is on his side. Even the ones close to him. Can he trust his friend? Can he trust his secret service? You need to read the book.Entertaining from the beginning to the end.So after you finish watching Empire and Scandal and want a great book, start reading Black President you won’t be disappointed.

So Black President 2 picks up right where part one left off and let me just say, President Stephen Jefferson needs his behind handed to him. But let me not jump ahead of myself. Book two opens up with First Lady Raynetta Jefferson in her feelings about the President's trip to Africa. She knows very well what her husband has been up to and she in not in the least bit thrilled. She even marched into Chanel's, you know the skanky reporter from the first book, office and told her a thing or two about herself. But when I tell you, I didn't expect the First Lady to go full-blown girls from the hood on that man while he was in the Oval Office, I ain't lying!But wait, that's not the kicker, honey! The President did not disappoint. President Stephen Jefferson has to be the most hood of Presidents that I've ever met. He and the First Lady showed their natural hood behinds and I was stunned to complete silence. I couldn't believe what I seeing nor reading. What kind of folly is this? I thought.Fast forward, the President tells the First Lady he knows she's lying about the story she concocted about not being able to have kids. That calmed the First Lady right on down and sent her running like a scalded cat right out the room. We know from the first book that President Jefferson has a bit of a lust problem. Well in this book, that problem still remains, but I'm so disappointed in our President.I have to ask, with a shooting on a military base, two Black people gunned down by the police, the incident with Speaker Robinson, and your mother going full-blown alcoholic, why would the President choose to go on a rendezvous in the park? Why, President Jefferson, even after you had just admitted to the American people that you had defiled your marriage bed? Never mind the apology he gave to the First Lady was sub-par at best, lackadaisical at worst.I have never not liked a man the way I didn't like President Jefferson in that moment. I mean, he did absolutely nothing but give orders. He was not in the least bit presidential. All the tragedies happening around him and all he did was go to the park? President Stephen Jefferson is arrogant and careless. He's is not a man I'd want leading my country and I'm not a Republican. We, the American people, can't afford to have a man in office who's so careless, especially not a Black man! Did President Jefferson not learn anything from President Obama? Apparently not. And I know if President Jefferson could read this, he would probably try to come back with some long winded think piece about this, that, and the third because it's what he does and he's an arrogant careless man. Now I'm not saying President Obama may or may not have done some things behind closed doors, but the point is, we didn't hear about it!First Lady Raynetta isn't off the hook either. Her excuse as to why she told that bold face lie was poppycock. She's an overgrown arse woman acting like a complete fool! I wanted to yell, "Your man is running a country, woman! He doesn't have time for you to be barging into meetings acting like ya'll still live on the mean streets of St. Louis!" But that still doesn't excuse the President's actions.I must ask, does he not realize what kind of power he has as a Black man in the White House running the free world? And all he can do is bark out orders and go to the park? Mind you, he's gone to the park twice now. After that ending though, I sure as heck hope the President had an epiphany on his way down. I just don't know what to say other than, I give this book 4-pages (think 4-stars). My annoyance at the ignorance of the President won't allow me to give it five. However, Nikki-Michelle most definitely recommends this book.

Must-try diet menu By Melanie Jane The book explains that a ketogenic diet harnesses the power of high-fat, low-carb eating to rev up your metabolism to help lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. I have always been on the look out for low carb recipes and I found the menu plan here organized into breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks. I have done a set of recipes for each as my menu plan for the day and my family loved it! Am looking forward to try out the rest,

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. very good to start your Ketogenic Diet By Jess Lee I agree that the further research of this topic is needed to achieve success on this diet and not to make mistakes, but for the start this book is good. It gives the main principles of this diet, explains how it works, what you can eat and what to avoid. Also there many interesting recipes, that will help you to start your Ketogenic diet, I found them very good and will also add many of them to my diet.

Good book for beginners By Kfagundy Good book for beginners, though i don't like that it recommends (or even suggests) artificial sweeteners since they are known to cause insulin spikes (and thus more sugar cravings) just like sugar. People who are serious about the keto diet will need to do a lot more research, such as what are appropriate sweeteners, what veggies have high sugar/carb content (i.e. beets are a suggested veggie in the book, but they are very high in sugar and should be eaten sparingly), and portion control (contrary to what's said in the book, calories do matter, somewhat. One will not lose weight if they consume 3lbs of bacon, 10lbs of veggies and caesar salad dressing everyday at every meal.) All this aside, there are some really good beginner recipies that aren't too drastic a change for the Keto beginner.

Good book on Diabetes diet!I liked the part about do"s and dont"t of a diabetes diet.I also liked the food guide for diabetics.There is a lot of info here on the subject.I have friends and family who suffer from diabetes so I know how important a subject this is.I found the recipes section was very well thought out.This is an action book designed for someone to read and get excellent info and then take action.I will be recommending this book to family and friends who can get benefit from the subject!

Very practical guide for anyone suffering from diabetes By Ashton I downloaded this book not for myself but for my dad, who struggles with diabetes everyday. I found the section on recipes very helpful especially, as we often struggle to find suitable meals that the whole family can eat, while still making sure they are okay for my dad. It provides great insight into what to avoid as well, not just what is safe for people suffering from diabetes.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Francine stabs him with a award shaped like a sword By Gwen Stone is a white rhino shifter, a bounty hunter, and a personal trainer. He is also a health nut, not junk or sweets for him. He is also a man whore, but that's okay I guess. He mistakenly meets a woman in bar while trying to catch a bounty, he catches the guy as he attempts to drug another woman's drink. Before he leaves he gives the woman, Caitlyn his number- of course she calls him, comes to his place and they get it on. Stone has a morning after routine where he leaves to go for a run, leaving the woman at his place with a note for cab fare. Usually they are gone when he comes back, or its awkward as they slip out without looking at him. But when he comes back this time, he smells food cooking- the woman has cooked. She didn't just cook she went out to the store and made him a gluten-free, sugar-free apple pancake. This is Stone's first indication that she is reading too much into what happened the night before but he ignores it, then she shows up at the gym where he works and again he ignores it.Francine is a flamingo shifter and an actress. She auditions for a part of a junky, but obviously isn't right for the role with her hour glass figure. The director/ hyena shifter, Michael invites her to his home to run lines. He basically attack Francine trying to get into her pants, what's a girl to do? Francine stabs him with a award shaped like a sword. Francine is arrested and meets with Stone's boss Marcus to arrange bail. She and Marcus make a deal- she will help him get a nanny for his twins and he will pay her bail. Francine totally skipped hearing the part about missing court and a charging rhino coming after her. Francine and her friend Felicia end up at Stone's gym and he gets picked as her trainer. Her friend encourages Francine to go out with Stone and tell her all about the steamy sex. After an amazing time between the sheets, Francine wakes up to crazy Caitlyn telling her that she and Stone are engaged, Francine leaves, when Stone get back he finds Caitlyn in his bed and Francine gone. This book it crazy funny, I couldn't stop laughing. Loved it

The plot was strong and the dialogue was witty and moved the storyline. If I could have given it 4.5 I would have. There were some parts where there was no dialogue, except maybe inner dialogue, but I got lost in descriptors that were very detailed. The plot twists were unexpected but added to the story. The lead characters are admittedly shallow, but they are certainly entertaining when they interact. It was a fun read, sexy, funny and exciting!

Beautiful contemporary Christian romance By Darlene Cruz Beautiful contemporary Christian romance, short read but one that will make you think of all the blessings we have around us. "Live for me, see the world, and learn to smile again." Mia takes the year off and will travel abroad, she will touch bases with all the places her mother had planned for their trip together; however Mia will be traveling alone. Mind you she encounters someone from her past and I was a goner after that. My anxiety level inched way up and the only reason why it went back down quickly poor Mia, curled up in a ball and cried her eyes out. A surprise by accident Mia will face and how she handles it, will make this tale why I rooted for Mia more ('Mia more' sounds like a song). Enjoyable, delightful and refreshing of a read. Through it all, they find Jesus’s love and forgiveness for their sins. They find each other again after 10 years of separation. After learning to forgive one another for their transgressions, they find love for each other. Then and only then do they find the peace that God gives thru his Son, Jesus, and attain true love. About the Author David Elio Malocco was born in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland. His father was born in Casalattico in Frosinone in Italy and his mother was born in Monaghan in Ireland. He was educated at the Christian Brothers School in Dundalk and his parents later sent him to St. Patricks College in Cavan where they hoped he would be ordained as a Catholic priest. But he chose law and business instead. He received his Bachelor of Civil Law degree from University College Dublin and spent fifteen years as a criminal lawyer before taking a second degree at the Open University, Milton Keynes in England where he obtained a first class honors degree in Psychology majoring in Cognitive Development. In 1991 he realized a personal ambition and moved to New York where he studied film direction, production and writing for film at New York University. Since then he has written numerous screenplays in several genre and has written, produced and directed many shorts and three feature films, Virgin Cowboys, Magdalen and Jack Gambel: The Enigma. He later studied creative writing at Oxford University and is presently completing a doctorate of divinity in Metaphysical Science. He is a member of the American Society of Criminology. He has written four books on serial killers: Serial Sex Killers, Real American Psychos; Sexual Psychopaths, British Serial Killers; Murder for Profit, and Who’s Who Serial Killers the Top 100. The books were motivated by dual diplomas he had taken in the Psychology of Criminal Profiling and the second in Forensic Science specializing in Crime Scene Analysis. He lives with his family in London, England

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. "nothing vanishes without a trace." By Whistlers Mom If you were thinking about taking up a life of crime, better stick to shop-lifting. According to this author getting by with murder is harder than it sounds. And all those cute tricks you THINK you know to cover up the evidence are as useless as boobs on a bull.Don't bother trying to wash the blood away. Luminol will show up even tiny spatters, which can then be tested to determine if it's blood. Wiping surfaces with a cloth doesn't destroy fingerprints completely. That requires strong bleach. And don't waste your time filing the serial number off the murder weapon. There are at least three methods to retrieve those numbers and the odds are not in your favor. Getting nervous?The author compiled this information for the benefit of those who need an introduction to forensic science and to correct some of the mis-information that viewers pick up from television shows and movies. It's been so long since I watched TV (think DRAGNET) I'm no expert here. I DO remember seeing small screen cops using handkerchiefs to open doors and picking up guns with a pencil stuck in the barrel. Both of these are no-no's and more likely to destroy evidence than to preserve it. Wearing gloves is the preferred technique, which explains why cops now seem to live in latex gloves. They're not JUST for body cavity searches!I was particularly impressed with the section on forensic photography, never having realized its scope and importance. I've read many classic detective stories, including Hilary Waugh's famous police procedurals. I guess the gruff, grizzled old police chief calling the local newspaper photographer down to take a few pictures of the body before it's moved is a thing of the past. Going back even further than that, I recall stories that involved a matching pair of dueling pistols and the confusion of trying to figure out which one was used. Turns out the striation marks produced by a firearm are as individual as fingerprints.There's a lot of information packed into this well-written book and some readers may want to skim and skip around a bit. I thought it was fascinating and I can't believe how much I learned from it.

By Bassocantor ▲ This is a very well-written description of how CSI teams operate, and how their work is separate from the police detectives at the scene. The author corrects many misconceptions about how simple it is to process evidence. For example, it is not nearly so simple (or fast) to link a criminal to a crime via DNA evidence. For one thing, the crime scene is likely full of evidence from others.▲ Extensive section explaining how the CSI team takes photographs, video, and notes. The author points out how their techniques vary a lot from the amateur photographer.▲ Excellent overview of the legal process for obtaining warrants, and what you should look for if YOU are served with a search warrant. (Look for mistakes in the warrant.)▲ Excellent discussion on the process for establishing a "chain of evidence," and why it's best to how very few people involved in the chain. (Remember O.J.?)▲ There is also a substantial section on how technicians deal with computer crime. He points out the folly of criminals trying to cover up their cyber crime by just hitting the "Delete" key. Of course, the data can usually be recovered from the computer.▲ At the end, the author helpfully provides a section for prospective criminals on how to commit the "perfect" crime--or at least, have a fighting chance of not getting caught. For starters, he suggests, don't get anyone else involved--even for an alibi. Watch out for those CCTV cameras watching everywhere. Important: Be sure to leave the country soon after--don't stick around! And if they DO question you, don't talk! Even if they say everyone else has already confessed--don't believe them!√ All in all, a well-written, easy to understand, interesting! Recommend!

Campbell David has crafted a very interesting introduction to forensics, but he should have consulted one more expert -- a proofreader. This book is absolutely riddled with typographical and grammatical errors and reads more like a draft than a finished product.There's a lot here that you don't know, as well as a lot that you think you know but don't. Highly recommended for content, not recommended for physical quality.
