Yes, my faith is important to me, and as an author clean Christian western romance is my heart passion. I love being able to tell a story, be it an American mail order brides series, a Mail Order bride and babies tale, or a historical western romance novella, and at the same time bring a positive message of hope, faith and love to uplift readers. Are all of your stories Clean reads? Yes, every story I write is clean and wholesome, and I find that language and sex free Mail Order Bride books are just as good as those that include such things. I don't think that offensive elements are necessary to tell a great story, and I always ensure that I write great Christian Western romance free of anything that might compromise my readers in any way. I think many authors take their readers for granted, but without you there would be no stories. A story only really comes alive in the hand of a reader. My readers are the reason I write, the reason I can tell my tales. Without them, well, there would be no story to tell. She and Jacob falls deeply pm love, and a son is born to them. Unfortunately the Civil War was upon them and Jacob goes off to fight in the war. From that Ellie's life was never the same, She is left with a mother in law who resents her and her child, always felt that Ellie was beneath her son and not fit to be his wife. Then word comes that her husband has been killed and then her mother in law begins to verbally abuse her. When she can no longer take the abuse, her friend talks her into answering a mail order bride advertisement. Ellie becomes a Mail order bride with a 6 months stipulated courtship. Samuel treats her and Charlie with so much love. They become happy once again. Then Ellie receives word that Jacob is not dead but severely wounded and has returned home. She returns home to Jacob, but he has been changed by the war.He is no longer the sweet husband that he was. What happens next? Can she and Charlie take up where they left off? Can she forget Samuel and the ranch and the happiness they found there? You will have to read this great book. This story is full of excitement from beginning to end...Some of it heart warming, yet other parts are cruel and heartbreaking. ......... I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.

Eleanor Rigby, aka Ellie, goes from living a life in England to being a business proposition bride to merge her father’s business with one of the Anderson family in Maryland. Her husband Jacob and she have a good marriage, with one son, Charlie, and then he is drafted into the civil war. Word of his death, dealing with a mother-in-law who hates her, leaving to be a mail order bride gives her a chance at happiness again. Then unexpected news will change everything. Ellie has remained virtuous, giving her and Samuel a chance to court. The cruelty and abuse she must suffer is unbearable and death would be a blessing. But God always works thing to fulfill His purpose for us on earth. The plot kept me captivated with all Ellie and her son Charlie endure. The dialog is emotional and inspiring that no matter what, Ellie remains a Christian in thought and deed. War changes people and this story depicts the changes and bitterness of Jacob, as well as Francis, husband to Beatrice. Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This story of verbal and physical abuse is heart rending. Can she every trust again? Can she find true love? Ellis married Jacob and bore him a son, Charlie. Jacob went off to war leaving her to live with his mother. Her mother in law never thought she was good enough for her son. Upon Jacob's reported death, her mother in law became unbearable to live with. With the help of a friend, Ellie becomes a Mail order bride with a 6 months stipulated courtship. Samuel treats her and Charlie with so much love. What happens next? So many surprises. You will have to read this great book to see. I was given a copy for an honest review. I highly recommend this book and its author.

I am reading this on April Fools day and the ideas for this holiday are so creative. Fake chicken tenders that look so real I wished I had someone to feed today. These are creative ideas using store bought food and candy to make cute food for different party favors. For kid parties or wedding party ideas. These ideas will make your party stand out. Teaches you what supplies will be good to keep on hand so you will be ready to make those special treats. There are lots of beautiful photos of all the ideas. This book cover Chinese New Years day to fourth of July. I would love to have this cookbook in hardback or soft to keep for future party planning. By A Customer This book is probably the most spirit filled and guided work I've read in a long time. You can not help but hear the voice of God calling you to a deeper relationship with Him as you read this amazing classic. From begining to end each page is an impassioned plea for the reader to abandon "comfortable Christianity" in order to truly know God as He desires to be known. You can see right away that truly Mr. Tozer wrote this book on his knees. I found myself challenged to look at my own faith in Christ and what I should be doing with that faith in every chapter. Sometimes with weeping and confessing and always compelled to deep times of prayer and renewel in God's presence. The chapter entitled "The Blessedness of Possesing Nothing" should be required reading for anyone confessing Christ as their Lord. I was totally blown away and my life with Christ and my own pursuit of God has been forever enriched. I have read this book over and over and shared much of it with friends and family. If you are "stuck" in you walk with the Lord, let the Spirit of God use this book to shake you loose and move you onward and upward.

Clark This is one of a few books I've read that, upon reading it, actually manifested God's presence. In line with the teaching of the book, God impressed upon me his love and his desire for a more intimate relationship. I broke into tears. Few books have had that impact. The chapter entitled "The Blessedness of Possessing Nothing" is a profound call to absolute simplicity and abandonment to God who owns everything you may think you "possess", including yourself! Surrender it all to God and see what miracles will be wrought for His glory. Let God possess you! For those who want other recommendations, try "The Christian's Secret to a Happy Life" by Hannah Whitall Smith, "A Testament of Devotion" by Thomas Kelly, "Abandonment to Divine Providence" by Jean-Pierre de Caussade, "The Practice of the Presence of God" by Brother Lawrence and, for those who want to experience God's holiness in a powerful way, "The Holiness of God" by R.C. This book changed my life.I grew up in a conservative Christian church, my father was a pastor, and I was studying for the ministry when I purchased this book as a gift for a good friend. I didn't want to give him a gift that would lead him astray, so I decided to read the first chapter.What I found was nothing like what I had known. This was no dry, moldy, "scholarly" book--this was alive. The blessed truths that had been buried in my heart and mind beneath the drudgery of modern scholarship's debates over dating, authorship and sources came pouring forth in what I can only describe as "rivers of living water" (John 7:38). Through the Spirit-led power and insight of Tozer's writing I was awakened to the reality of the Almighty God and the nearness of His blessed Holy Spirit in an amazing way. The prayer he offers at the end of the first chapter (in which he borrows Moses' prayer from Exodus 33) left me in stunned awe before my Maker.This book (as its author was) is annointed with the presence and power God. I would most highly recommend this book to any person--both those who thirst for more of God and those who know nothing of this deep soul-hunger. Tozer speaks with an authority and passion characteristic of one who has been in the very presence of God. This work is a more detailed and in depth version of "Theology for Beginners" but a must read even for those who have read the "lighter" version. In fact start with "Theology for Beginners" and then read "Theology and Sanity."I have read innumerable books on theology with an emphasis, but not exclusivity, on christianity. And this book explains with clear and beautiful reasoning the christian faith. You will not find a clearer yet amazingly comprehensive explaination of the Holy Trinity. If you think the 'triangle analogy' is a good model, you will forever look back on it as a simple 2-dimensional representation, with usefullness to be sure, but without life. Mr. Sheed brings the Trinity to Life!Ever wondered how Christians have come to believe in Heaven, Hell, Angels and the Devil through scripture? Ever doubted that you could come to a rational belief of those concepts using logic, through combining philosophy and theology? Rejoice becuase Mr. Sheed reconciles both of those for you, beautifully and clearly.By the end of this book you will understand why viewing life without a belief in God is insanity and why believing in God is having clear and sane thought. Mehan (mmehan1@acad.udallas.edu) In an age where philosophy, academia, and society hold religious belief as subrational, Frank Sheed shines as a beacon for those who desire to begin the grave and joyous journey of reconciling faith with reason. His explainations of Catholic theology and the metaphysical realities it upholds prove to be some of the clearest of our time. His explaination of how those realities are translated into practical application,(morality), prove equally lucid. His embarkation into the mystery of the Holy Trinity leaves one with much to meditate upon. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to understand their Catholic faith. Only a minimum understanding of the Catholic faith is required to follow the author through some of the most complex teachings of the Church. Enjoy!

The Catholic view of the universe: an exceptional work By A Customer Unlike the previous reviewer, Sheed never lost me, in the beginning or anywhere else. This is, admittedly, the Catholic view of the universe and I don't think Sheed intended it to be anything else. As such, it is much more an exposition and explanation of that view than a defense against various competing views, although there is some of that. So, if you are looking for defenses of the Catholic Christian faith against Buddhism, Islam, Judaism or even specifically contrasted to some Protestant beliefs, you won't find it done here explicitly. If you are a Catholic or are interested in learning more about how this magnificent religion views God and creation, there is no finer introductory work (although Sheed's Theology for Beginners is on the same par as Theology and Sanity, just shorter). I have now read four of Sheed's works and intend to read everything of his I can get my hands on. Two other points: 1. For the Catholic Church's thoughts on other religions, see the Catechism or the Pope's speech Dialogue with Great World Religions on May 19, 1999, or his Encyclical Fides et Ratio for starters, all available on-line. 2. For books on the Catholic argument for the teaching authority of the Church see Jesus, Peter, and the Keys, among many others.

I didn't expect the killer that was revealed and I normally can figure it out. I keep saying I'm going to go back to some of my other auth ors but I keep coming back to Ms. Barrett. Some good recipes are included and tips on what to eat and what to avoid. It is wellwritten. A drawback for me is that it is difficult to convert grams to ounces or cups etc without having a conversiontable open all the time.

Highly recommend to those looking for a healthier way to eat. Easy to follow.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. "The Imposter" is another great read By Dorothy I have had a "sneek peek" at Suzanne Woods Fisher's new book, "The Imposter" and love it! Not surprised though because all of her books are so very well written, so well researched. Meeting the new family is made even better with well known family members from previous books showing up in the story. Enough surprises so "The Imposter" is not the typical, predictable Amish story.

By Oak Tree The Imposter, written by Suzanne Woods Fisher, focuses on the young Amish woman Katrina Stoltzfus, who thinks she will marry her boyfriend John. But when Katrina’s family moves to Stoney Ridge and John’s feelings for her change, John turns out to be far different than Katrina thought. Now in her new community, Katrina has the attention of an amiable farm hand, Andy Miller. But can she trust Andy? Or will he deceive her like John did?The Imposter is not your typical Amish Christian fictional novel, and (spoilers ahead!) the story even deals with an out-of-wedlock pregnancy. I liked following along on Katrina’s journey and seeing her growth throughout the book; she showed both strength and bravery. Fisher crafts an engaging story, and I enjoyed seeing the characters interact against the pleasant backdrop of Stoney Ridge.I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

By Vik Tory Arch Katrina lives as Plane with her dad and a house full of children. As the oldest she was responsible for many tasks about the house, but shaken by accident that killed her mother and nearly killed her, she felt confusion and darkness. Yet another things had stricken her, while she learned life is not easy. She was surprised how some people in the community continued to hope, smile, and breath in the face of break down, death, lack and need….I enjoyed the read. Suzanne wrote a great book, layering the characters, their struggles and issues… life was not an easy thing, but through all they kept the faith in God, their Maker and the foundation of their believes. Definitely some mysteries coming Katrina’s way, and how she deal with it- courageous, yet afraid, she faces her future.There were some issues that weren’t resolved in this book, but was left for the future books in the series.

The Atlanta situation is resolved. We have more stories to look forward to. Tobias is next, but I would raise my hand and say Vadim's friend is someone I want to get to know. Also I almost died laughing at one scene. My husband thinks I am nuts because I won't explain it. All I will say is this at one point Vadim says "I didn't expect to see that when I woke up." Now go buy it if you want to know what he saw.

The focus is on a small wolf pack in Cloverleah, how it started with a few members and has grown with each book. All the fated mates are important, talented in some way, and able to come together under Alpha Kane. And as the series matures we see Kane grow, too. He cares for his pack. He's not the strongest of the alphas but because of who he is they want him to lead. And I love how he drops everything to be there for his pack. Those sleep rumbled just got out of bed scenes are priceless. . . Shawn is quick to respond. *finger wiggling*Watching Out For Fangs involves Vampires. And although the title talks about 'fangs', the pack is more concerned about 'claws' and 'poison'. So. . . in this story we learn more about Josh and his fated mate Vadim. In this case the pesky vampire coven, causing trouble in Fae For All, is back. But this time another representative is asked to step in. Vadim is this ancient vampire, the second oldest of his race. And the oldest? *cough* His mother *cough* . . . . And after centuries of dealing with her, he has a polite and cordial relationship. Vamps you know. And I guess after all that time these two aren't power hungry any longer. In fact I did wonder what that mother did all day. Anyway, Vadim is asked to parley with the Cloverleah Pack over that collar put on Stephen. .. A life or death situation. . . .Anyway, the story was a good continuation, Josh and Vadim were great main characters. Their mating took time and it wasn't just due to a wolf / vampire pairing. It was interesting seeing how vampires are viewed by the pack but once Josh's mate was in their ranks, how they accepted him. All the old faces show up in this story along with some new ones. I love how Damien pops up all the time, it's like he has to keep up with what's going on in Cloverleah. (Bringing Scott to see his brother Troy for a visit is just talk). By the way, when is Damien and SCOTT's (Edit I had that wrong! *blush*) mating ceremony? !!Josh. Oh what a wonderful wolf. Brave. Standing up as a beta wolf should and averting one of his pack being killed.. And Vadim has the same mind set. 'Gee, I should have asked to see the pack in shifted form. . . . Because I can't tell who is who during this fight!' 'Are you Dean?' . . . . . !Reading Watching Out For Fangs prompted me to re-read the whole series. Yup. A very enjoyable time and now I feel like I'm all caught up. So my question is . . .When will Alpha Claude get his? And Vadim's mom -- I'm waiting with baited breath. I could see one of those Fae wisking her off. . . - Dan's Wife

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Read it, loved it, need more now please. By Heather Leonard The Cloverleah books just keep getting better. Every single one is excellent, no doubt. This one might just be my favorite, though it's a toss up with "Getting Close to the Omega". There was so much to love about this book, and I am not one to go into details, but this just hit all the right spots for me. It was loving, and heartfelt, and sexy, and humorous, and had just the right amount of angst. If you haven't read the other Cloverleah books, don't start with this one. There's a lot that wouldn't make sense if you did. But why on earth wouldn't you want to read from the beginning of this awesome series anyway?!

This book presents a straightforward and unflinching examination of painful subjects. Marine lawyers in Vietnam came to legal grips with drug use, racism, fragging, and the murder of noncombatants, along with the variety of offenses more usually encountered. The Marine Corps can take pride in the commanders and the judge advocates who ensured that whenever those crimes were discovered they were exposed and vigorously prosecuted. There were no cover-ups; no impediments to the judge advocates who conscientiously represented the accused or the United States. To study the military lawyer is to examine the military criminal. Reprehensible acts and unsavory individuals are described here. The outcomes of some cases are shocking and dismaying. But while verdicts cannot be ordered, the cases were always brought to trial. The war in Vietnam has long since passed from the headlines to the history books, yet the many issues it raised have only slightly receded, and the controversy barely at all. The functioning of the military justice system in that war—the practice of criminal law on the battlefield —is one of those issues, and the controversy sparked by it is far from being extinguished. To the contrary, that system's increasing "civilianization" by statutory and appellate law keeps the ember alive, potentially to flame anew to bedevil our commanders in the next war. But, as with so many such issues, the debate is conducted with little fact intruding on the rhetoric. This volume goes a long way toward remedying that omission. In it are assembled the recollections, reflections, and accumulated wisdom of those charged with making that system —a relatively primitive version of today's—work in Vietnam. What a curious group it was: The senior leadership of Marine Corps lawyers (they would not be titled "judge advocates" until well past halfway in the war) was predominantly combat officers, who had served in World War II and Korea in "line" billets, and who had later come into the legal field. The "worker bees," the trial and defense counsel, were almost exclusively first-tour Reservists, many only recently removed from the hotbeds of antiwar activism which their college campuses had become. A surprisingly thin cushion of mid-career lawyers filled the interface. Yet differences of background and of such temperament and philosophy as existed were submerged, for in its essential construct, the law is the great unifier of peoples and societies. And thus it was too for our lawyers in Vietnam: the single focus of this diverse group and of their common effort was to make the system "work." We each must draw our own conclusion concerning their success or failure. However, to read this volume only to resolve such weighty questions is to overlook much of its worth. It also tells an interesting story— as well it should. For writing history is much like preparing a difficult and complicated case for trial.

Welch Gary Solis(author of Son Thang: An American War Crime) begins his book with a short review of the history of military justice (a misnomer, perhaps) since the founding of this country. I had no idea the Code of Military Justice was of such recent vintage: 1950. The last Marine executed was in 1817 (in the Navy it was 1849.)One astonishing number Solis cites is that there were 1,700,000 courts martial during WW II (pg 4). That's incredible. The changes made to the military justice system were a direct result of the feeling that many of those courts martial were much too subjective and the charges and outcomes at the whims of officers. The system was often extra-legal and officers with legal training played no part until the revision of 1950. "The reforms of 1950 reflected the continuing question of the purpose of military law: is it to enforce discipline or to insure justice? Or both? Can both ends be simultaneously served?"The soldiers in Vietnam were in a bizarre position. Because of a treaty signed while the French were still there and long before Americans arrived in significant numbers, “The agreement provided that all American forces entering Indochina were to be considered members of the U.S. diplomatic mission with the same legal status as actual members of the U.S. mission of corresponding grade. American military personnel were divided into three categories: senior military members of the U.S. mission with full diplomatic Status; a lesser, undefined category which, significantly, excluded its membership from the civil and criminal jurisdic- tion of Vietnam; and the third category, whose membership was again undefined, but with the legal status of clerical personnel of the diplomatic mission. In 1958. the United States advised the Vietnamese government that it would consider top U.S. military commanders to be in the first category. officers and warrant officers to be in the second, and enlisted men to be in the third category. So, in diplomatic terms, Marine riflemen were considered diplomatic mission clerks.”Legal officers labored under difficult conditions (not as bad as the troops obviously.) Electricity was unreliable making the required verbatim transcripts taken from recording devices problematic. Language barriers were significant. Vietnam had numerous dialects and translators not easy to find. One Colonel’s first interpreter, a very good one, was a thirteen-year-old boy. But often the lawyers wondered if the interpreters and witnesses were having side conversations while they were being cross-examined in court. Getting witnesses to trials was more than difficult. It often required assigning special patrols to accompany the lawyers into enemy held territory to bring back those willing to testify.Locating American witnesses was difficult. Infantrymen were often in the field and his company not easily found.Sometimes a witness might have been killed or even rotated back to the United States or even gone AWOL. Communications were spotty.The definition of war crime was not what one would expect. Killing a South Vietnamese citizen or a non-combatant was not a war crime. It was considered murder since their were from an allied nation and not an enemy who would have been covered under the Geneva Convention. Despite the effects of higher command, there were numerous courts martials of Marines charged with violations of the Geneva Convention in their treatment of prisoners.The Marines had a shortage of lawyers, but since lawyers were required only for *general* court-martials, non-lawyers were given the responsibility of handling *special* court-martials. These were in-unit disciplinary actions.Solis (channeling Westmoreland and others) blames rising rates of crimes against the Vietnamese and against American officers on McNamara’s decision to expand the pool of men eligible for the draft. Now men who scored lower on the intelligence tests were available for draft and Solis’s strong suggestion is that the lower standards brought along with them lower morality and higher crime rates. Westmoreland himself said: “Category IV is a dummy. . Give him menial jobs and he is not a troublemaker. But it is awfully difficult to utilize that many category IVs . . . that is important when you start reflecting on the drug syndrome, the fragging.That introduced a weak.minded criminal, untrained element . . When those people came to Vietnam that's when disciplinary problems began on the battlefield.” That sounds a bit too 17th century for my taste.I was surprised at how the sentences of many convicted Marines were vacated or reduced on appeal for some truly heinous crimes. The case of John D. Potter, Jr. for example who had supplanted the regular patrol leader:the other Marines followed Potter rather than Vogel, whom they viewed as ineffective. The patrol's Navy corpsman, Hospitalman Jon R. Bretag, later testified: He [Potter] said that this would be a raid instead of an ambush - . . . We are to beat up the people, tear up the hooches and kill, if necessary. . . . He told us to roll down our sleeves, take our insignias off, make sure our covers are on [and] assigned us numbers. He said if you want to get somebody, don't mention his name, call him by number . . . The entire squad moved out. They entered the hamlet of Xuan Ngoc . They seized Dao Quart, whom they accused of being a Viet Cong. and dragged him from his hut. While they beat him, other patrol members forced his wife, Bui Thi Huong, from their hut. They pulled her three year-old child from her arms. Then four of them raped her. A few minutes later three other patrol members shot her husband, her child, her sister-in-law, and her sister-in-law's child, with automatic and semi-automatic rifle fire. Hearing the sister-in-law moan, Potter exclaimed, "Damn, she's still alive!" He fired another burst of automatic fire into her at point blank range. Potter then tossed a hand grenade near the bodies in an attempt to cover the patrols' atrocities and "to make it look good." Next, they shot the rape victim, Bui Thi Huong, and left her for dead. She lived to testify at their courts-martial.Upon returning to the battalion command post, the company commander sought details of the reported enemy contact:' Suspicious, he ordered their new platoon leader, Second Lieutenant Stephen J. Talty, to go back to the scene of the "contact" with the patrol. Once there, Talty realized what had happened and directed efforts to disguise (my emphasis) what had occurred. As they were doing so, one of the previously wounded chil-dren was discovered still alive. Potter raised his rifle over the child, saying, "someone count for me." Vogel counted to three as Potter repeatedly slammed his rifle butt into the child's head, killing him.”Talty later admitted all. Potter was given a life sentence, later reduced to twelve years (he was released in 1978 having served the longest sentence of anyone charged during the Vietnam War) and several others were given long sentences for murder and rape, all of which were later reduced considerably. Talty’s was found guilty of filing a false report. He was fined $500 and dismissed from the Marines, a dismissal that was later revoked.This book is not for everyone, but if you have any interest in the law during times of armed conflict and the special problems faced by those charged with military justice, you will find it fascinating as did I.N.B. The Potter case gets its own mention in the The Oxford Companion to International Criminal Justice (https://books.google.com/books?id=bHV...)
