In the Bible we are told Jesus was lost in the Temple for three days when he traveled to Jerusalem for Passover with Mary and Joseph. Why did he stay behind? What did he do? Who did he meet? Where did he sleep? Was he ever in danger? This Biblical novel is a compelling tale about 12-year-old Jesus, based on the second chapter of Luke’s Gospel. This book will grip your imagination—as you explore the Temple and experience the drama of ancient Hebrew traditions with the boy Messiah. It’s a story for the child in all of us.

Review A highly entertaining work of historical fiction... an enjoyable and informative book... that can only deepen one s faith. --Robert Delaney, The Michigan Catholic

About the Author As a journalist, Chris Stepien has spent his career asking tough questions and telling intriguing stories.

He worked as a television producer-director and writer for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). From 1979 to 1987, while at WXYZ-TV, Detroit, he won six Emmy® Awards, as well as many other honors for documentaries, sports and celebrity specials, and children s programming. Stepien left broadcasting to co-found Adventure, Inc., a successful Detroit-based video/film production company. He created award-winning communications for Fortune 500 companies like General Motors and Ford Motor Company for nearly nine years. Since 1996, Stepien has crafted marketing and advertising for global clients, as writer-creative director and owner of Stepien Creative Services, Inc.

A lifelong metro Detroiter and Catholic, Stepien attended parochial schools and was an altar boy. He and his wife, Ellen, have two adult sons, Alex and Mike. Chris and Ellen are Vincentians, active members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP). Stepien, a former SVdP conference president, is currently lay spiritual advisor to a group of Vincentians in Dearborn, Michigan. Their core mission is to respond to the needs of poor families in the surrounding community, visit them in their homes, and provide financial assistance, guidance, friendship, and hope.

Bible studies, spiritual exercises, and praying the rosary inspired the author to write this novel about preteen Jesus. Stepien relied on his love of God and his passion for visual storytelling to help shape this account of the boy Messiah and His Passover pilgrimage. The author s experiences serving the needy and children of alcoholics were very influential as well.

Provides a viewpoint of the inspiration of a young Jesus exploring his relationship with God and beginning the foundation of Christianity. Three Days places you in the middle of Passover, Jerusalem and the Roman Guards traveling through daily life in the youthful days of Jesus, his family and friends.

Joseph Marquis It was my pleasure to be among the 90+ persons who gathered to hear Chris Stepien speak about the inspiration and personal spiritual journey which subsequently led to the creation of his book, "Three Days".His Biblically-based tale, set during the loss of the youthful Christ in the Temple (Lk. 2:41-52), offers many plausible and engaging answers as to what could have reasonably occurred during the three day separation from his mother and foster-father. In doing so, Stepien invites the reader to a rare exploration of the first century life-setting and activities into which these events occurred when Jesus actually walked upon the earth. The fruit of much prayer, personal reflection and research, Chris Stepien's Three Days arguably flows from the same literary genre that produced the classic Biblically-based tale authored by Henry VanDyke, "The Other Wise Man". In point of fact, Stepien's expressed sentiments about his own prayerful inspiration for his book, appear to echo VanDyke's conclusion that: "I do not know where this little story came from--out of the air, perhaps. One thing is certain, it is not written in any other book, nor is it to be found among the ancient lore of the East. And yet I have never felt as if it were my own. It was a gift, and it seemed to me as if I knew the Giver."In light of the above observations, one could easily imagine Stepien's Three Days produced as a made-for-television motion picture.-Fr. Joseph Marquis, Pastor, Sacred Heart Byzantine Catholic Church, Livonia, MI

The Jewish historical and cultural customs woven into the story are informative and enriching. The situations Jesus encounters in the narrative are plausible, and could be inferred from what we do know about Him and the times He in which He lived. A well written book capturing your attention and imagination. The Temple scenes are nice touch. Excellent job Chris!
