How to live a healthy lifestyle using soups as the base for your diet By kwadzana I confess; I bought this book because I already love soup and I was looking for more recipes. But this book is much more than just recipes. Author Julia Cussler refers to “lifestyle change,” as the way to maintain your proper weight, rather than crash diets. The book explains how to prepare a realistic and personal diet plan based on many individual factors. We all know those people that try different diet plans but never PERMANTENTLY lose weight. “Soups! Weight Loss Miracle in a Bowl” goes beyond dieting and helps readers to change their eating habits using soups as the base for their diet.Be forewarned that the beautiful full-color photos included in the recipe section WILL make your mouth water. I just finished the book and now I’m craving soup. I’m going to start with one of the simple recipes like the tomato soup but I may have to stop at the Thai restaurant on the way to the supermarket for some cabbage noodle soup.These recipes are the best collection of soup recipes I’ve seen anywhere, so I highly recommend this book, whether you want to adjust your eating habits to take the weight off permanently or you just love soup.

Quick and easy By Michelle I'm following the advice of a book called Beat the Diet Trap which says that a lot of society's problems with obesity started when schools stopped teaching children how to cook for themselves. So I've determined to make more of my own food and I'm starting with soup, because it's so quick and easy. My aunt lost weight using her own home-made soups. She didn't follow a diet, she just made lots of soup! I make a good Carrot & Coriander soup but that's all I can make and I get bored with the same foods really quickly so wanted to find recipes that would keep up my interest.There are lots of soups in general recipe books but they often contain things that would counteract weight loss so I looked for a specialist book and was absolutely delighted to find this one.It's not just recipes, it covers the benefits of soup and the dangers of extreme diets such as the Cabbage Soup diet, as well as some practical diet advice which is very good.I have tried two of the recipes - Apple Butternut Squash and the Hearty Lentil - both worked well. I made big batches and froze portions so they'll keep me going until my next big cooking session!
