However, all the name drops in this book seemed a tad out of place especially if you are unfamiliar with the city (for example, the main character visits OMSI with his daughter but the author never explains that OMSI is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). With that said, a 3 star rating is my base rate for anything I review (all books start at 3 stars and either work their way down or up). That is it wasn’t bad by any means but there wasn’t anything terribly wonderful about it either. It was a quick read (I read the majority of the book during my work breaks and finished it before turning in for the night) that held neither a satisfying nor unsatisfying ending.I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this book to anyone in particular but if you’re looking for a quick paranormal read, then this would certainly fill that for you. Please note: I received this book for free from a LibraryThing Member giveaway in return for my honest review. After sitting in on a seance as a favor to his strange neighbor, Jason Denton and his daughter begin to experience strange happenings in their recently bought house in Portland. A long-ago former resident and known murder, Mary Blackwell, is after Jason’s daughter. To free her of this pursuit, Jason must marshal resources from his neighbors as well as from others who participated in the original seance evening. Although short, the author has provided a solid, enticing plot, well developed characters and a story that will long sit with the reader after it is finished. This is a great story to read on a story, dark night or anytime, if you enjoy good ghost stories. It may be short, but it is well worth the time and effort. I received this from the author to read and review.

I loved the book! The story line is one we have heard before but this telling of it make it original.Spooky and suspenseful at the same time. Great writing and great flow. I personally flew thru the reading, even though it really gave me goosebumps! While it's a quick short story the characters are great and well rounded. Great tie ins to the past and fore shadowing. I will be recommending this to friends far and wide. I expect to share it with friends over a campfire one night. Really great writing and story. I'll be looking for other books from Daniel Powell!
