My friend recommended me to The Emergency Bird By Susan Hightower I must say, I am not one to normally write a review on a purchase, but with the amount of excitement and enthusiasm my kids have expressed towards seeking a closer relationship to Christ simply by reading a book, I could not resist. For the longest time, the only stories my kids would want to hear would either be Where the Wild Things Are, any and all of the Dr. Seuss books, and from time to time my made up stories. The problem is, I could never effectively incorporate any sense of the Gospel into these stories. I would try and read them scripture, but a child's attention span can only last for so long. My friend recommended me to The Emergency Bird, but I thought there was absolutely no way my kids would let me read them a new story. Well I finally talked my kids into letting me read them the book and it has been incredible the effect the book has made on my kids! Not only have they become much more interested in the Gospel, but it has increased their activity level outside by leaps and bounds. It's really something watching them run around playing, pretending to be Mark and Rudy on special missions with a great purpose. I just wish the author would write more books! I give my full recommendation on this book if you're looking for a solid children's book with Christian values.

By erin o mcaliley I just received my copy of Emergency Bird by Lauren Souers and was so excited to read it! I knew my 8 year old son would love it, and began to read it out loud with my two daughters (12 and 10) within earshot. Within the first few pages they were nestled on the couch with me listening and asking to see the pictures. Full of adventure with solid Biblical principles woven into each encounter, Rudy and Mark are sure to become household names and real heroes that you want your children to emulate. All the while pointing to our True Rescuer. Heartily recommend and hope there is more to come from this author!~Erin McAliley

Emergency Bird is a collection of short stories about two brothers who go on daring adventures to help others. Each story has a spiritual lesson for children and parents, alike. I have really enjoyed reading these stories with my family, and know you will, too!
