By TJB One can have the discussion of whether or not Marriage is a patriarchal means to claim ownership of a woman as property. And it's one I've had the discussion about many times. But however that is not the problem here with this novella. Elle freaks out.... lol... But her reasons are spelled out after Kay pops the question. The story arc of Elle is not unicorns and rainbows. 'At the Waters Edge' was proof of that. No spoilers but lets just say this is definitely worth a read :) Harper really makes it easy to root for these two to get it sorted out.

By R.Pride To sum it all up, this novella was an interesting and touching study into two sides of marriage--for it and against it. Although it was a continuation of an earlier story, it could be read alone and make perfect sense, and it did. In this case, the story was between two women's different views on marriage, but the subject at hand could also apply to other couples whether they are lesbian, gay or straight. Kay asks Ella to marry her because her experience with it was a good one in relation to her parent's marriage. On the other hand, Ella's experience with it has been horrible because her parent's marriage was awful; therefore, Ella was more than a little hesitant to get married. Other characters were introduced and added their views on the subject. I found the interaction with the characters positive and the conclusion uplifting.The writing was fresh, entertaining and steadfast. In the short span provided by a novella, it was easy to care about the characters. In short, I would recommend this story for anyone who enjoys lesbian fiction and who wants to escape for awhile into a world with characters suffering every day problems. It was also entertaining. Good job, Ms. Bliss.

By Kent This is a continuation of the story about Ella and Kay from At the Water’s Edge. I already feel like I know all of the characters in this story since I have now read At the Water’s Edge twice. I am very happy that Harper decided to continue with this story of love between Ella and Kay. I would highly recommend reading At the Water’s Edge before reading It Takes Two. Like At the Water’s Edge this story touches on some important issues, but doesn’t get preachy about them. Being a Harper Bliss story, there is exceptional romance, captivating drama and of course hot lesbian sex. What more can you ask for.
