Reviewing the Book "Seven Biblical Signs of the End Times" By Jack Wellman The book 7 Biblical Signs of the End Times, a published by Telling Ministries and written by Doctor C. Marvin Pate, is a captivating book from beginning to end. He wastes no time in pointing out that the world is already in a present and worsening crisis. All you have to do is watch the evening news and you hear about 10,000 new cases of Ebola erupting ever week, the clear and present danger of ISIS being not only a Middle Eastern problem but a growing menace in America, and disturbing evidence of climatic changes like the recent Polar Vortex's (p. 11). Of particular interest was an easy to follow time-chart where the end time events are displayed on a graphic or flow chart that gives a sequence of these events starting from the death and resurrection of Christ up to the Great White Throne Judgment (p. 255). The author gives a clear dispensational distinction between the nation of Israel and the church on the same page where the flow chart is located. The book gives several scenarios of those who will be in the middle of their everyday activities but then suddenly be taken away in the rapture (p. 277). This book shows the reader what happens once the Holy Spirit is removed (p. 289) and what the world will be like during the seven-year period of the Great Tribulation (p. 325).Dr. Pate does a fine job in breaking down the end times by the seven chapters in this book where he writes about when the restrainer is removed which makes way for the appearance of the Ant-Christ which is followed by the rebuilding of Israel's third temple. Then he goes through verse by verse in the Book of Revelation with several Old Testament references as God's wrath is poured out as divine judgments and then the culmination of the Battle of Armageddon climaxing with the return of the Lord Jesus Christ as the seventh sign of the end times. In this format, it is easy to take the reader from the beginning of the church all the way to the return of the King of kings and the Lord of lords to begin His reign on earth in the New Jerusalem.Dr. Pate also gives a workman like effort in biblical expositing of who are the 144,000 Jews mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Are they an innumerable multitude saved during the tribulation or just a specific number of Jews or are these innumerable ones the multitude of believers in the New Testament church (p. 807)? There have been great debates over who exactly these people are for hundreds of years and there remains some conspicuous ambiguity about it but Dr. Pate seems to present a solid argument that indeed, these are the Jews who go through the end times and suffer the insatiable wrath of the Ant-Christ (P. 807). The fact that this multitude are sealed would seem to indicate that they will be entering into the kingdom because God's seal is unbreakable as Paul wrote about in Ephesians chapter one. Is Dr. Pate right in positing that the church has replaced Israel and that the sealing is identified with the baptism of the believer (p. 819)? I do like that he presents different and sometimes opposing views about who exactly goes through the tribulation and who these 144,000 might be (p. 819). Could he be correct in his assumption that these 144,000 might be Jewish Christian evangelists who are charged with proclaiming one last warning before Christ's return (p.931)? The death of a massive number, even of a 144,000 is nothing beyond imagination today as more Christians have died for their faith in the twentieth century than in all those killed in the combined centuries before it (p. 934)!At the end of the book, Dr. Pate reflects Jesus' teaching that no one, not even Dr. Pate, knows when the end of the age comes and the King returns. Even though he gives a clear demonstration that the signs are already present for an end time scenario, he doesn't seem to go any further than the biblical text does in trying to set a date or specific time (p. 91), for indeed no one knows that day or that hour of the return of the Lord (Matt 24:36). The author does a scholarly work in showing that the signs of the end can be traced all the way back to the New Testament church and “that they have been intensifying throughout history until this very day.I am in agreement with him in much of this book that what a person believes about the end times will not affect their right standing before God; that is whether they believe in a rapture or not or if the great tribulation has already occurred, as some theologians argue, or is yet to come, and that not one person will be deprived from entering that kingdom if they have repented and trusted in Christ. Will there be a secret rapture or not? Has the Great Tribulation already occurred (e.g. A.D. 70)? Will believers go through the tribulation or not? I could put it this way when I am asked whether I believe in the rapture or not or the Great Tribulation has come already or is yet to come and also if asked whether I hold a postmillennial view, the a-millennial view, or a premillennial view: my answer is that I am a panmilleniast that is, I believe it will all pan out in the end. I think we need to be ready for His return at any moment.By the way, I purchased this book at my own expense and have nothing to gain from giving a review of this book nor was I persuaded to endorse this book by the author or the publisher. My only interest was for the benefit of the reader who may or may not be interested in buying this book. This book is available on Amazon in Kindle or Paperback. The page references given were in respect to the Kindle version and not the paperback version.Pastor, Jack Wellman

Dr. Pate educated the reader through reference to biblical events that could lead to the end of the world as we know it. The author's knowledge of the Bible and his use of historical events to tell the story, as well as his own personal experiences ,help shape his viewpoint and offer a book that is hard to put down. Being an ex teacher, the book definitely appealed to me, as Pate's references to history made this book very interesting. The concepts discussed in the book are still in my mind, long after the reading has been concluded. This is the best book I have read on this particular subject.

Dr. Pate reference the bible while referring to events that make you think of the end of times. It was interesting reading about historical events that may be signs of the end. And the thought that at any time and event could be satan trying but God not allowing. History is not a strong point of mine but the history in this book made it interesting to me. This is informative and a good read relating to Revelations.
