More than just a run and gun zombie killing extravaganza. Subplots and themes are well developed without detracting from the overall story. Finished this book in one days reading...I just couldn't stay away from it.

It's hard to review each piece of this story, because unlike most series books, the UFTD series is many interwoven narratives constituting one large one that plays out over the course off the series. They were written intentionally as such with no tack ons for a quick extra buck. As a lucky beta reader I can attest to that.As somewhat explained above, thus is a continuation of the story from the first book - a group of SEALs on a sub trying to figure out what's going on on the mainland, a civilian doctor slowly coming to realize what's happening, the president, a hitman, and so on.The writing is Goff, though thick with detail for the Tom Clancy types out there. The author takes few shortcuts with dialogue our description, which sine may but like, but I had no issue with. The action is great and there's plenty of it fit those looking gift setting beyond the usual hard scrabble survivors with an over abundance of luck and a convenient amount of supplies. Granted, one or two of those exist in the story but they are not the whole of the story, and frankly those characters are something if a fait accompli in the genre now. As on the first book, his capture of military terminology and equipment is superb. There are a few things that are not perfect about the book. I would have liked to see more of what was happening in the rest of the world, and the bus set in the UK did not work as well for me as the rest of the book. Secondly, as I said sine may find the amount of description might be to much.Less of a complaint and more of a concern is the pace of the novel. With so many plots, so many characters, the plot dis not move at a normal novel pace, which some might find to slow. It's this time investment that I worry people won't be willing to give in this world with so many competing stories and forms of entertainment. That would very unfortunate, because this is a great series for birth those who love zombies and those who love military horror.
