2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Nothing tempting about this By Lora905 There were a few spelling errors (ex: state "trouper") and not very well developed characters. This entire book was built around 4 characters from start to finish: Rusty, Trent, Devin, and Reed. The book mentioned the strife that Rusty had to endure being a gay man in a small town in Texas, but there's never any instances of him going into town or having any interactions with anyone (except the one time he went to Devin's office in the very beginning). We have nothing to go off of but the writer's word. Trent's past was relayed in conversations; there were no flashbacks to his youth, his bad relationship(s), being kicked out, there wasn't even any interaction between him and the shelter. It didn't even tell when his parents passed Once he got to Sweetwater, the book was completely centered on he and Rusty. When Reed was introduced and thought he could sweep Trent off his feet, it was a little crazy. For the same thing to keep happening repeatedly was ridiculous and made no sense. For Trent & Rusty to keep allowing him to come back, therefore letting it happen repeatedly, was stupid and made me mad.What was also maddening was that Ms. York seemed to realize that there had been practically no drama, nothing interesting (even the sex was mundane) and then at 90% decided to throw in a bunch of monkey wrenches. First there was the situation with Trent's grandfather's will, with its extra added stipulations and whether or not Trent would be able to go back home (Trent supposedly was so miserable he'd considered leaving town); then with the run-in with the guy from Rusty's past and the subsequent misunderstanding/falling out; the incident with the 2 guys on the side of the road and the Twilight Zone state trooper. All that crammed into the last 10% was just a mess.

He planned to stay, sell up and go. But that was before he met Rusty, his neighbour. His hot, sexy neighbour who does things to him that no one ever has before.Can Trent be really in happy in the place that holds so many painful memories?I'm left with one word, and one only, nice.It was a nice book, with nice characters, its nicely written. I just can't think why I'm left thinking nice though!I didn't find a connection to Trent nor Rusty. I didn't like that, although mentioned from time to time, there was no visit to town, no incident or meeting that caused issues for the men. I was expecting something to happen in town, because of the way some minor characters acted when Trent turned up, but there wasn't any, and I wanted it, I think the book would benefit from it.I even thought Reed was nice, after he got over his blip for Trent.Some people will love this book, but unfortunately, I can't.Sorry, but I did like it!3.5 stars.**same worded review will appear on Goodreads, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com**

And while there are aspects of the story that I could have done without, overall I found this to be a good read that I would recommend to others who are fans of the genre.The best part of the story? Rusty. He is far and away my number one character, and his emotions and actions (along with his hot and sexy self) make him a keeper for any book boyfriend shelf no matter who you are. While he does seem to fall really fast for Trent (they both fall really fast for each other actually), the depth of caring he shows-especially when he continually emphasizes to Trent that Trent is the one in charge-and his thoughtfulness demonstrate just how wonderful he is.As for Trent, at times he seemed a bit too timid and more twink than I usually care for in an M/M story, but the way he is written and how his character and Rusty's interact and bond make it so that this personality type works for this story.But when it comes to the predominant secondary character of Reed...at first his character's introduction into the mix was fine, but after a while with his repeated insistence on trying to come between Rusty and Trent and everyone getting wound up and then defusing again...and again...it just started wearing on me by the time I was done reading. And the addition toward the end of Rusty's every-now-and-then hookup Edan just felt like a bit too much to me.I do wish we could have seen more of a conclusion with the terms of Trent's grandfather's will stipulations, and whether the getaway ranch/camp plans he was considering would come to fruition. It felt like the ending was a bit rushed without complete closure to the things that were brought up within the story.This was a 3.5-star read for me, but would have been higher with a more satisfying ending (and less Reed and no Edan). This is for the 18+ M/M romance fans as it does contain adult M/M sexual content. Oh, and please don't hog Rusty once you read this...I'm claiming regular visitation rights ;-)
