A Truly Wonderful Read By Asha S I have not read any books like this and I haven't read anything to do with psychology since taking basic courses on the subject in college. I think what makes this book so enjoyable to read was that the author opens herself up and lets you know she is not a perfect human being. As an outsider I always believed psychologists and the like were on another pedestal than the rest but after reading this I felt like it was something everyone could gain some insight from. In this book she talks about the connection of the mind with basically the universe, as I am not a religious person this book was easy for me to understand that we are all in some way connected to a bigger energy, whether you call it God, the Holy Spirit or any other name. She gives pointers on how we can connect with this bigger part of ourselves so that we can see we are just part of the bigger picture. I like the advice she gives and the tips for how we can center ourselves and become closer and more connected with the Transcendent Mind. While covering things like forgiveness, near death experiences, out of body experiences, the ego, how to forgive and have compassion for others, I found myself becoming open to the possibility that there is something something bigger than myself. I believe if everyone could read this book we might at least come to have more respect for one another as humans and more compassion for those who need it.

Where Psychology meets Mysticism By Grady Harp British author Sunita Pattani s a psychotherapist who specializes in exploring the link between mind, body, spirit and emotional healing. She gained degrees in mathematics, science and education from the University of Birmingham and obtained her Certificate in Education, taught for some years before returning to university to achieve a diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapeutic Counseling. In addition to a busy practice as a therapist she shares her message through workshops and writing and guest speaking. She lives in East London, practicing spirituality and personal transformation.Early in her book Sunita shares her own journey that this book explores - the Transcendent Mind: ` How could I move towards healing myself if I didn't have an adequate understanding of who I was? What was my mind and where did my thoughts come from? What connection was there between my mind and my body? And was I anything else aside form the mind and the body?' In her exploration for these answers she takes us through a brief but cogent overview of the works of Freud, Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow, dwelling on Maslow's `Hierarchy of Needs.'She prepares us for the content of this book I stating, `A Transcendent Mind is a mind that not only goes beyond our individual minds, but also includes our personal, individualized minds. The Transcendent Mind is common to us all and is responsible for the experience of interconnectedness. It is all-pervading consciousness, that has the ability to transcend time and space. This part of us that we need to re-acknowledge and become aware of, for it is this part of us that knows the truth about who we really are.'She quotes Swami Vivekananda - `All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.' She outlines the four elements of the transcendent healing process: Understand what emotional wounding is and how it occurs, Understand what emotional healing is and how it occurs, Tools for emotional healing, and The role of nutrition in emotional healing. She discusses why exploring the link between science, spirituality and phenomena such as near-death experience is essential to long term emotional healing. Sunita gently guides us to a more peaceful life. Grady Harp, July 15
