Leaves You with Sweaty Palms and a Lump in Your Throat By Julie Arduini Book Description:Just when her career as a carpenter and a relationship with Will Jamison are within reach, Nila Black's abusive ex-boyfriend is released from prison. He's out of jail, out for revenge, and making promises she knows he'll keep. Nila will do anything it takes to save Will and her friends from the evil that will come their way if she doesn't put distance between them-even if it means abandoning her new-found faith. It will take a miracle and an angelic messenger to show Nila that God is her greatest protector. He has never left her side, and He wants only the best for her and for the man she loves.Kathleen Friesen does an excellent job creating wounded characters trusting God as a process. I felt like I could see inside Nila's heart as she wanted to trust Him, but the reality of danger and fear of what might happen was enough for anyone to question what to do. I loved the support she receives and the danger was palpable. This is a page turner that will leave you with sweaty palms and a lump in your throat. Otherwise, an excellent read. Highly recommend.

Bassett Kathleen Friesen’s thriller, Nila’s Hope, is filled with romance, suspense and memorable characters.Nila is attracted to Will on the first page—“Nila gazed up at the tall, blond man standing just a few feet away. His deep-set blue eyes met hers, and the world shrank to just the two of them.” Yet before the end of the chapter, her former abusive boyfriend is released from jail to terrorize her. Throughout the book she not only fears for her life, but the life of her friends as well.Pastor Dave and his wife Lydia are the epitome of Christian love. They provide her with shelter and minister to Nila in her new found faith. Words of wisdom from these godly characters include, “God is her greatest protector. He only wants the best for her.” They help her grow in her faith and self-confidence. And who could forget Will’s niece, Jessica, calling him Hunky Unky.Friesen has created memorable characters and a story that keeps you wanting to turn the page and find out what happens next.If you enjoy Nila’s Hope, you’ll also want to read Melody’s Song.Reviewer Bunny J. Evans A female carpenter (such an interesting twist!)...a vengeful and abusive ex-boyfriend...and the love of a lifetime. Can Nila and Will find a way to forever, or will evil and past pain shatter their dreams? Can forgiveness and redemption sing their song within two hearts scarred by fear and feelings of unworthiness? With a gift for page-turning suspense, heart-wrenching personal conflict and an exquisite writing voice, Kathleen Friesen hits all the right notes with her Harbourlight release, Nila's Hope. I look forward to her next release!Disclaimer: I was given a PDF copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
