About the Author About the author A renowned chef, Sanaa Abourezk owns and operates a popular Middle East Restaurant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering and a Masters degree in Nutrition from Cal Poly University in Pomona, California. She attended a cooking school in Florence, Italy, and the Cordon Bleu Baking School in Paris, France. She has worked as a nutrition adviser for the South Dakota Department of Health, where she advised clients on nutrition, cooking and healthy eating. A talented creator of healthy and delicious recipes, she has published two cookbooks, Secrets of Healthy Middle Eastern Cuisine, and Oh Boy, I Can’t Believe It’s Soy!, both of which are best sellers. Sanaa developed Gluten Free Vegetarian Mediterranean Recipes because of the many people who have told her of their suffering from celiac disease, which has severely hampered their enjoyment of food. This book is the result of long hours of research and recipe testing, and the author hopes that the recipes presented here allow more people with gluten sensitivities to enjoy these delicious dishes. This is one of the best gluten- free cookbooks I have found in many regards, but mostly because it makes gluten-free cooking simple. Many of the GF books out currently make you feel as if you need a chemistry degree to blend the all the flours and gums and miscellaneous ingredients together, or they are full of hard to find (and hard to afford) flours. Sanaa uses simple and available ingredients in a very refreshing and unassuming way. ANYONE can make these recipes, even a beginning cook, and the result will be spectacular. Sanaa's recipes are packed with nutrition and flavor, loaded with healthy clean ingredients, and certain to become favorites in your kitchen. Bravo! (PS: the falafel is fantastic...)

The cinnamon biscotti are perhaps the best I have ever had By Estelle Although many of my family members and friends are not vegetarian and gluten intolerant, the recipes in this book are a huge success and never fail to impress. The recipes are clear with quality instructions that are appropriate for anyone, even those with little or no experience in cooking. The food is absolutely delicious...The cinnamon biscotti are perhaps the best I have ever had. Perfect for dipping into a mug of hot chocolate! In all, the recipes are savory, simple and straightforward. I would definitely recommend this cookbook, you won't be disappointed!

By Michelle lavallee As a life-long "foodie" and former owner of a gourmet food business, I consider Sanaa's collection of recipes to be haute cuisine with dishes I turn to time and time again, even when my guests are not gluten free or vegetarian. Sanaa has a way of combining ingredients that always result in flavorful and delicious dishes. Several of my all-time favorites are Mohamarra: Red Bell Pepper Spread which features the unique flavor of pomegranate molasses and the Feta Cheese and Olive Tart. Every cook should have this book!
