Coon Rescued is a beautiful historical love story inspired by the Biblical story of Rahab, the prostitute who lived in the wall of Jericho. Trapped in the shame of her past she and desperately desiring a new life, Rahab trusts two strangers to keep a promise to save her from destruction. Jennifer uses her knowledge of the Jewish customs and history to weave her imagination with truth in unveiling Rehab's love story and eventual ascent into the lineage of the Messiah.I loved the way she used constraint in building the love story ever so slowly but effectively, keeping me turning the pages and pushing onto the next chapter even though I needed to be doing something else. Her descriptions painted pictures that enhanced my reading experience and I could see this book being used for a movie. I'm not a big fiction reader mostly because I have trouble disciplining myself to pace myself and my love of learning. But I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to others who are reluctant fiction readers.

I found myself reading for hours, not realizing I had done so! I love how the author seems to make history come alive as she fills so much of the story with history and the culture of that time. One to definitely display on my bookshelf. I would recommend it and would read it again.The story follows Rahab, a resident of the city of Jericho, who is about to meet her destiny when two strangers enter the city. Her entire life which has been built on shame and abuse is completely changed and she finds hope and redemption with the Israelites as they welcome her as one of her people.
